In the end of June this year, I created a historical map of the public transport system of Paris as it was on 30 June 1952 (Image).

Now I am planning to do the same for London, as it appeared in December 1993, at the end of the last full year of Network SouthEast.

I invite you to check if there are any errors on the current draft that I made. I did eventually find the Network SouthEast map for the 1992-1993 map, so I think I got most lines covered (limited NSE services are in grey).

The Chiltern and Great Northern lines have different colours because I think they were quite autonomous from Thames and West Anglia respectively, at least in terms of route identities. The Chiltern colour is based on the one used in the 1991-1992 map, and the Great Northern one was made up by me.

Good map. Just a couple of small things I noticed... New Beckenham is misspelled and not all tunnels are marked (for example: Kidbrooke tunnel, Chelsfield tunnel and a number of the tunnels around Charlton and Woolwich Dockyard).

I have correct the misspelling, and changed the West Anglia colour to light turquoise, so that the Great Northern lines can use brown instead of dark grey.

I also added the tunnels for Kidbrooke and Chelsfield, as well as another set between Charlton and Woolwich Dockyard. Some tunnels in the area were omitted for sake and simplicity, and the cut-and-cover tunnel between Highbury and Caledonian Road did not exist at the time.

Some of the edits will be reflected in the current map, which was first introduced in Autumn 2014.

One thing that is missing that I think should be there is Chafford Hundred station (between Ockendon and Grays, on the London Tilbury & Southend lines). Wiki says it opened in December 1993, which sounds about right.

Also, as you have Watford Stadium station marked as being open for football match days only, it might be worth marking Kempton Park station (then open only on horse-racing days) similarly.

I can see a typo - "Epson" for "Epsom".

Coulsdon Town station was then called Smitham

I have implemented the corrections for Epsom and Smitham (Coulsdon Town), and added the note for Kempton Park. I probably need to dig deeper for the opening date of Chafford Hundred, because Wikipedia is not a reliable source on its own.

Quick says Chafford Hundred opened 30 May 1995 with a ceremonial opening on the 29th.
The definitive source for dates, unlike Wikipedia!

If I had the L&SE map from May 1994 I would be able to investigate if Chafford Hundred opened before the end of 1993, but on Wikipedia, the claim that the halt opened in 1993 doesn't cite any references.

Attached is the current draft of the new map. This is the last call for corrections, before submitting the historical map to Schwandl.

Best, Amaroussi.

You talk about Network South East so does this mean only passenger lines? Some lines shown are freight only.
If it includes freight, then perhaps need to show the circular tracks running to the stone terminal at Radlett and the flyover where the freight and passenger lines split close to Hendon and then run down to the junction you do show between Cricklewood and Hendon

I got the Embankment typo: as for the freight lines, I had to keep them simplified because while there are many of such lines that are notable, there was a real danger of making things more complicated than it should be if I kept adding more freight lines.
