Using my bus/rail pass after midnight when previous train cancelled?

The senior bus and rail pass in Greater Manchester gives free bus, train and tram travel locally until midnight midweek.
My "last" train back to Bolton from Manchester is around 2335 from Oxford Road. If that gets cancelled there is one from Piccadilly around 0010, but outside the pass validity.
As the previous train was cancelled, would I be entitled to use my pass on that, or would I have to pay?
I think it's possible to travel from Oxford Rd to Piccadilly then Picc to Bolton -2343 or 2359- could that be considered one journey starting before midnight?

You would be entitled to get the next train - indeed the fairly recently introduced industry policy is that you can take the previous or next two trains when your intended train is cancelled.

Your pass is issued subject to the NRCoT and as such, the train companies are still obliged to get you to your destination if there is disruption, under condition 28.2. The fact that your pass would ordinarily not be valid after midnight (not that I imagine most staff would try to enforce this) doesn't mean that they can strand you.

Thanks; I'd ask the guard anyway and pay him if necessary, but I would imagine my (non!) ticket (ie.pass) would have the same rights as an advance ticket.

Doubt there will be a onboard ticket check at midnight?

No issues last night - everything on time! But I did ask BeeNetwork's twitter account and they explained that it's up to the train guard or the bus driver; their discretion. So looks like there's nothing "on paper" about this?

Condition 28.2 of the National Rail Conditions of Travel refers. I wouldn't expect a social media bod to be 'au fait' with the rules, especially since Bee Network doesn't cover trains yet.

Actually they mentioned that - they said right now they don't "communicate" with the railways as such (therefore won't know the rail's "rules"), but when BeeNetwork takes over local rail they will be more "hand's on" regarding ticketing they said. I find it odd that the senior passes validity ends early and not something like 1am so such eventualities would be rare.

Stagecoach have a bus that leaves at 11pm (125 from Bolton), the pass is valid, but if you get on the next stop then the pass is invalid and you need to pay! Note BeeNetwork validity is midnight, Stagecoach an hour earlier!

On weekdays the validity of 09:30 to 23:00 is mandated nationally. Issuing authorities are able to offer wider validity on their own passes within their own areas. I imagine many people would be envious of that extra hour you have, to say nothing of the rail travel available to you.
