I'm just about to book a ticket on the Raileasy website which requires a change from Moor St to New St. I'm given an itinerary in which my train arrives into Moor St at XX:01 and the connecting train departs New St at XX:22. Is the 21 minute connection time officially valid ? Looks a very tight one to me.

Thanks.

No, that's not a valid connection. 5 mins at Moor Street + 8 minutes walking time + 12 minutes at New Street means the minimum connection time is 25 minutes. Can you show a screenshot of the itinerary?

Your first screenshot shows that the train is actually arriving Moor Street at 11:56, yielding 26 minutes until the departure at 12:22 from New Street. Presumably the timeline in your second screenshot is showing 12:01 as the "departure time" of your walk from Moor Street, having allocated 5 minutes of connection time at Moor Street before letting you set off. Makes sense to the computer that treats the walk as a separate leg of the journey, less so to the human that the information is meant for...

Yes, that's correct. We allow 5 mins to "connect" to the walk, a minimum of 8 mins for the walk and 12 mins to connect to the train at New Street. The timeline shows the departure time of each leg, so the walk "departs" at 12.01.

in reality you'll start the walk immediately on arrival at Moor Street.
