Virgin advance tickets on 8th April

Would anyone know why there doesn't seems to be any advance fares shown for the 1705 departure from London Euston on 8th April? Advance fares seems to there for some other services. Any help would be appreciated.

The 1705 eh? I presume you know that this terminates short of it’s destination at Liverpool South Parkway.

This could be why, or it could just be that the Advance tickets have all been sold. They only sell a certain amount per train.

I'm guessing, but with it not going to Lime Street, they may want to dampen demand and not offer Advance on it. There appears to be no advances to Liverpool that day at all

Trains aren't open for reservation yet. The last Virgin update (12th Jan) had the 8th April as a TBC so I can't give even an estimated date when it will happen but it will at some point.

Thanks, I am only going to Nuneaton so the stopping short isn't a problem, I will keep looking until it comes up.

London Midland have £12.50 advances on that day around that time if you don’t mind a longer journey!

Similarly, Virgin have not introduced Advance tickets for the Saturday over Easter, March 31st. They do have some Advance tickets on Good Friday and for just after Easter, such as Tuesday 3rd and Saturday 7th April.

I'd grab a cheap LNR Advance if you are happy with the timings.

8th April opening on 19th February
31st March/1st April should open today.
2nd April tomorrow.

Thanks janb. I'm looking for advance tickets from Edinburgh to Preston on 8th April from 2pm onwards and was finding the same problem. 19th February is quite a while away, I'll put that in the diary to re-check. Do you know if TPE as well as Virgin release on the same day for this route?

Not necessarily. I haven't had an update from TPE since 13th December, and they provided no timetable as to weekends opening. They will face the same issues/delay as Virgin in this instance so one would expect a similar timescale but not necessarily identical depending on how fast they work and how they do their release schedule (TPE used to release a week all on one day, whereas Virgin are day by day, not sure if this is still the case).
That 19th February date could change, either forward or back, I will keep my eye on it.

I have now booked one for Saturday. It is just Sunday when there will be no trains to Euston, but reduced services on other days over Easter.
