Hello.I went to Acton bridge a couple of weeks ago and a class 221 voyager heading north had on its desternation board was lockerbie.Would this train terminate at lockerbie? It wouldnt make sence to terminate there it should of terminated at carlisle or glasgow or would it terminate there because of works.I want to know if there is a regular voyager service that terminates at lockerbie.

There aren't.

Quite how you could read a 221's destination board as it passes through Acton Bridge is beyond my belief, unless it was doing sub-40~mph, which ACB definitely isn't!

There are no booked services that terminate at Lockerbie although it has been used to terminate trains during engineering work or in times of disruption. As far I'm aware Trains can be turned back on the cross overs either side of the station.

Must have good eyesight to read a six-inch high electronic screen coming towards you at up to 125mph!

When was this?

I can see most destinations as the train whizzes past me.

I don't think I'd have a problem with seeing that either at speed.

I think that staff can amended the destinations... I once saw 'Pimp My Voyager' on the end display of an XC 221 at Taunton.

Fair enough, my distance eyesight isn't 100% so I can't really comment anyway.

If it was a weekday you may have seen one of the Voyagers that terminates at Lancaster ex-Euston.

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(

priceless mate! :)
lokerbie is indeed used during works or disruption as the interchange point for bustitution and was invaluable during north WCML improvements. Unfortunately if like me you aint keen on 185s your options here are limmited and trains can indeed be turned back in the crossovers there. Only downside is the vehicular access road is narrow and have had more than 1 coach driver storm confidently off the M74 before coming to a screaching hault in the highstreet and ask if anybody knows where the station is! :)

once negociated though theqes a good parking and drop off area and great staff.

Incidently I can think of a lot of things I could put on a voyagers LED, but I fear the mods wouldnt find them entertaining.

Been to Lockerbie a couple of times myself when trains have been terminated there due to engineering works. I remember when Virgin ran a shuttle train service from Glasgow to Lockerbie, my journey planner told me to then change to an Oxenholme-bound coach, instead I was put on a Lancaster coach; ended up arriving in Manchester rather earlier than expected (due to earlier connections).

Virgin don't have any Lockerbie terminators. Possibly either an edited destination board or a misread of Lancaster?

I can easily read the orange LED displays as Voyagers pass MKC at 125...
