The split-finder website http://www.trainscanbecheaper.info has suggested something (which throws up a question from me):

Hull-Castleford route not leeds £17.30
Castleford-Wakefield £3.20

Sadly, I don't believe the Hull-Castleford ticket has any valid routes apart from the twice a day (none on sundays) Goole-Castleford service.

My question is, _if_ he buys this ticket on a Sunday from the TVM at Hull Paragon, has a contract been formed that allows him to travel on that day? If so, can he go via Doncaster (or even via Leeds)?

Although it doesn't seem to be valid any way than via snaith in the routing guide, national rail enquieries seem to think that it is valid via doncaster and pontefract.
So presumably one could end short at doncaster and then get a ticket from there?
Although of course that would be more expensive than the original ticket.

Erm, travel Hull-Donc-Wakefield and end short there....

All relies on getting a TVM to issue the ticket - I would want to go a previous Sunday to check that it is actually on the menu.

Better yet - if any of the booking sites will offer this ticket (maybe with reservations) on a sunday then book it online.
