I'm wanting to go and take my brother his golf clubs which are currently at my house in exchange for some dodgy Belgian beer he has for me :D

I live in Lancaster, and he lives in Hither Green.

Obvious route would be the following

1. Lancaster - London Euston
2. Tube To London Bridge
3. London Bridge - Hither Green

Can you see any issues with Virgin, London Underground, and South East and me lugging a set of golf clubs around?

I really can't be bothered spending £150+ on fuel just to take him some golf clubs.

Thanks

I've seen weirder

Golf clubs should be fine, Northern didn't seem to mind me lugging a flat pack desk to Manchester :D

It's fine. Just don't go around brandishing them like a weapon.

O L Leigh

I tend to keep them in the bag. I quit whilst I was ahead on the driving range a few years back. It's safest for everyone :D

Thanks guys.

The conditions of carriage say you can take them,
'in a luggage van if one is available.'
and for
'A fee not exceeding half the adult fare for each item.'

I doubt they would stick to that, but you never know!

I have frequently seen musicians carting double bass cases around on the Unders, and those are a darned sight bigger than a set of golf clubs!

That said, if you're worried about the Underground specifically (especially at rush hour) you could always walk to St Pancras and get a FCC service to London Bridge where theres usually more space :)

If the beer's that dodgy, I'd keep the golf clubs!

You can't take anything longer than 2 meters on the tube, I doubt your golf clubs would be longer than that (?), so I doubt there'd be a problem.

Golf Clubs can easily fit into most overhead luggage racks on board trains. Some sets eg 170's have fold up seats and again clubs can easily slip in there. Try not to store them in the doorways as some guards get a bit tetchy if you block the doors - bad for timekeeping and worse in an emergency situation
