On the Hertfordshire County Council website there is a list of all bus operators which currently run bus services in Hertfordshire. One of the operators listed is First Bus. It even says that they issue and accept their Intalink Explorer tickets. Here is the link:

https://www.intalink.org.uk/about-us/operator-contact-details/

However i can not find any First Bus route that enters Hertfordshire. I have searched through their routes but can't seem to find one. Can anyone please advise what First Bus operate in Hertfordshire? Do they even operate anything or is this a mistake?

Many thanks.

They don't. They used to operate bus 347 between Harlow and Sawbridgeworth but that route is now operated by a community minibus

They used to run into Bishops Stortford from the east - Dunmow I think - but that was curtailed to Stansted. Go back and Eastern National had a depot in Bishops Stortford as well.

Thanks all. I presume they must be referring to the 347 and just forgot to remove it from the list. This makes sense as the list seems to be a bit out of date and has a lot of incorrect information. For example they still mention Red Kite who shut down about four or five months ago.

Can i ask when First Essex stopped operating the 347 service? Also did they just decide to stop operating it or was it a ECC or HCC contract and they lost it?

First Essex still run the 59 from Harlow to Chelmsford but only on Sundays (the Mondays to Saturdays service is operated by Arriva The Shires). This route doesn't enter Hertfordshire though (although it does go very close to the border). Do they still issue and accept the Intalink Explorer on this? Arriva The Shires do issue and accept the Intalink Explorer on this service (and on their entire Arriva The Shires network) so i presume that because of this First Essex do as well?

Just to confirm was it a First 59 (Sunday service) or an Arriva 59 (Monday to Saturday service) that you used it on?

Many thanks. That is good to know. I wonder if they also sell them onboard? Or do they just accept them but don't sell them? Perhaps i will try to buy one on the First 59 next time i am in the area on a Sunday.
