Newton Heath has an allocation of 153s but I never seem to see them.

What do they do?

Newton Heath don't have any 153's allocated, they are all allocated to Neville Hill. They do however have 4 diagrams a day for 153 units, 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon.

As an aside to this were the ex-FNW 153s refreshed internally from the very old FNW interior? I'm sure I read somewhere they were being done this year but I've never seen one actually done. The last one I was on had about 6 types of fabric on various seats.

They are currently in the process of being done, so far I've seen 316, 324, 332, 358 and 360 done. 359 may be done but not seen that for weeks now

One is sent empty stock to Preston early doors. One is attached to a Clitheroe service and one is attached to a Leeds service in the afternoon. One is also sent up to Newton Heath empty stock that has spilt off a Leeds service at 10.11.

One is added to the 150 early morning Man Vic to Clitheroe.

Did you work at Bullfield West?

Ormskirk to Preston is and long has been a single 153 most of the time.

Apart from the 2 years when it was booked as a 142 Monday-Friday but is now back to having a 153 as booked traction all week. 142s and 150s still appear regularly on the Ormskirk service.

Not sure. Settle to Carlisle uses them attached to 158s.

I believe they work alongside 156s and a couple of 142s on Cumbrian Coast. They are tagged on to certain Leeds-morcambe services attached and detached at Lancaster and may also may get swapped at Carlisle with the ones which are booked up there on Leeds-Carlisles.

They definitely work on the Cumbrian Coast. Somebody has quoted a 142 + 153 Combo on which they travelled on Friday on the Cumbrian Coast 142 thread. Good evidence.
