What should be the Electric Rolling stock for East Kilbride / Barrhead?

Definitely 321s are the best bet. Totally suitable for the two routes, and even better that similar units already operate in the area. It’s a no-brainer.
with Transport Scotland hinting at 8-car units for this line, I can see a bunch of 321s coming here and not having their 4th car removed.

They're looking at 8 x 23m though. It will be interesting to see if that's just future proofing or if it's part of a rolling stock strategy which will see the newly electrified routes served by new or cascaded 4 car 23m vehicle units, perhaps as part of a larger order to replace maybe the 318s and 320s.

So from reading above the 318s and 320s will need replacing in the not to distant future plus the requirements for East Kilbride/Barrhead and a battery electric fleet for Leven to Tweedbank. I think TS may lease a substantial number of class 385 or similar variants.
