Medium sized usually, but usually pragmatic against the marginal cost of a large (e.g. if its only 10p extra, I might go for it).

I order smalls (when the option is there) because I'm a cheapskate! That said, I do usually try and take my reusable mug with me, which is just about right for a small at most places

I only buy it when someone else is paying; otherwise it's my trusty thermos which must have saved this caffeine addict a fortune over the years.

Waitrose only do one size and it fits in my cup that I carry. Still, it is free and I like the taste of it so no complaints here.

Agreed! I only paid £1 in a fancy coffee shop for their filter coffee (black) this morning near Manchester Oxford Road before 9.30am - https://www.fdncoffee.com/location. And the discount for using your own cup at other times is welcome too!

Depends who's paying. To be honest , I always try and wait until I get to Richmond . I love the coffee at Knot there and although railway staff pay the same for a large as the public , we get a medium or small for the same price and with a pound off. If I'm not driving into Richmond , then anywhere else I get a small usually . As an aside I drink tea at home and almost never coffee , but I like a so called posh coffee and cannot abide tea from coffee shops or vending machines.

This thread is clearly about coffee. If you wish to talk about tea please make a new thread in the Speculative Ideas section. Many thanks.

The blatant discrimination against the tea drinking masses continues unabated :'(:'(:'(

Much as i love tea I don't tend to buy in it shops. They tend to use horrible PG tips or Typhoo or Tetley or some other muck. It is weak and watery.

If I buy coffee I buy a medium sized coffee with skimmed milk. I refuse to use the silly code.

At Leeds Train Station - if I get a coffee at one of the kiosks on the upper floor at the top of the escalators I always get asked 'Do you want it large?' - that always puts a smile on my face and I reply with '...and why not!'

I tend to get quite a few coffee's from McDonald's and religiously collect the loyalty stickers - when I do use a completed loyalty card the McD's staff always give me a large even though technically I should only get a medium size.

I also enjoy the filter coffee available on board the TPE services which is a bit pricey but does have a nice kick to it - I only ever get the medium size one.

Indeed

When I’m supreme leader the first law I will pass is all coffee selling establishments are required to offer as many varieties of tea as they do coffee. In addition all baristas will be subservient to tea ladies.

Absolutely with you there! I want a coffee, not a frothy milk drink. Can't stand Lattes. I can't remember the last time I got a takeaway coffee, though. I always have it in situ, in a mock china cup. After all, I live in plastic-free Penzance, and my next door neighbour is one of the main spokeswomen of the 'movement.'

I will go for medium in this as on average I'd order this size more often. Large tends to be on the agenda if I'm either flagging a bit or if I've not been able to get coffee for a lengthy period of time

Usually a medium, but there are also cortados and flat whites in there too which only come in one size so varies for me.

Have you tried Costa's tea? Enough to put you off for life: ditto the muck they serve in M&S cafes.

No, they will still be called tea ladies, in much the same way as there are male Matrons and Midwives
But male matron's or midwives are not referred to as matron men or midwife men . If you had a male tea server , would you still call him a tea lady .
