Could I ask what training is needed to work on the rails, from a complete beginner? No experience whatsoever.

Thanks.

It depends what you want to do. A lot of positions are entry level (in which they will train you to the requirement needed) but it depends on your background what you might be able to go into.

If you have an engineering background then you can go in to; rolling stock fitter, signalling tech and others.

If you have a customer service background then you can go into stations or on board trains for example.

All depends on what you want to do.

As said depends what you want to do, minimum requirement for all positions would be a basic education (GCSE A-C in core subjects) and then all training is provided for most roles, obviously any experience you did have in customer service or technical skills would put you at an advantage

'the rails ' has hundreds of jobs from working on the track to working on the trains, to moving the trains cia signallimg, to working in the myriad of support functions.

Give us a clue where you may be interested.....
