What would the traction of EuroCity between Interlaken/Zürich - Hanburg in section Basel - Hamburg use when DB 101 is retired?

The plan is to use EC stock as stand-by sets in Switzerland. SBB Giruno was certainly in the discussion for the Cologne/Hamburg service. Also ICE4 starting at Basel.

Stand-by sets=Ersatzzug?

What about the EuroCity Transalpin?

ICE-4 starting at Basel? What do you mean? ICE-4 are no longer going to Interlaken/Zürich?

Well, currently the Swiss are pretty hacked off with delayed trains from Germany disrupting their operations. Curtailment at a convenient (for the operator) border station would solve that problem (though not for the passengers)

yes, Ersatz-Zug.
Currently the EC trains still run to Zürich and Interlaken, however that is open to discussion due to the lack of punctuality coming from Germany.

Much more likely to be RJ sets when it falls due for replacement, as it's partly OeBB stock anyway. It could then use the Koralmbahn which you've got another thread on.

Hope that wouldn't happen as it would mean the end of the panorama wagon :(

Panoramawagen are not getting any younger. Someone recently mentioned a substitution on the Graz-Przemysl.

No info but my guess is that SBB being SBB will lovingly keep a few in use until they are no longer viable on non-critical work such as the existing Gotthard Panorama Express or something similar.

Could use the Koralm with or without RJ, but is not planned to.

It can use the Koralmbahn anyway as long as it is Taurus hauled (ie ETCS fitted).

I think the most probable way is use EC250?

The EWIVs will then be scrapped?

Thought a few EWIV had already been scrapped, albeit only the worst early high milers to provide parts for others (the earliest are getting on for 40 now!)

What about the driving trailer?
EWIV and EC wagons (driving trailers) are different types. As there are fewer and fewer options for using these types due to the Disability Discrimination Act, some of the carriages will be disposed of. Another part will continue to be used as reinforcement coaches in trains with low-floor access after being refurbished. Another area of use is on lines where there is already a basic level of service with low-floor trains.

The ICNs can also be used for replacement trains.

Are they surplus to requirements?
not sure hahahaha

substitution on Graz-Przemysl? What substitution? ED250? Or just PKP Coaches?

It's not going to be an ED250, is it?!

Or just one vehicle. Maybe a normal first class Apm rather than a panoramic, or an ÖBB vehicle, or...

That was never considered.

I doubt any of it will happen, considering the outcry those plans caused in Switzerland. It will just be an SBB replacement train much of the time, until DB gets its act together.
