Least favourite on-board announcer would be a train manager on Virgin trains between Euston and Brum. He has a Potteries accent i think, but takes great pleasure in announcing Bham Int and New St as "Buuuuuuuuurmingham" and ends every announcement with a prolonged "Thank yoooouuuuu". Very annoying.
I'm sure that's the guard who pronounces Manchester as "Maaanchester".
Some of VTWC's guards inject some welcome comedy (e.g. "We're 5 minutes early today. Please cut us some slack when we're 5 minutes late next time."), but I fear that the one you have in mind might have some sort of mental handicap. Repeating "Maaanchester" 10+ times during the course of a journey, every journey, is not funny, and it's clearly deliberate if he does the same with Birmingham.
