I was knocked off my bike by a careless motorist in April and that has seriously affected my confidence - Since then, despite May and June usually have good weather here in Scotland, I have only been out once.
Sorry to hear that you were hit by a car, however, I would suggest that it's worth getting back out on your bike.
Whilst statistics aren't always reassuring, the risk of serious injury or death is 1 per million miles and whilst this is 20 times higher than by car many people do significantly more miles by car than by bike so the risk (for a lot of people) probably isn't anywhere near that different. Especially if you consider the health risks with being inactive.
However, I would say that cycling is enjoyable for many, if that is the case for you then please don't let the poor skill of a driver spoil that joy for you.
If you would find it helpful start of small and build back up to what you used to do.
Although I'm also mindful that I don't know the circumstances, how you feel about the incident or 100 other things which influence how you are feeling. However, I suspect that you were perhaps hoping that someone would say something which they hoped was encouraging for you to get back in your bike which is why you've said about it on here - if I've miss read that then sorry.
