I’m sure we will hear something soon. My application still says ‘Under consideration’ in the Abellio portal.

30 mins after posting I got an email saying I’m through to the next stage. Happy days!
Well done fella.
I've done 2nd stage assessments already with GWR so I'm hoping it will carry over but not sure yet.

Those who have passed, congratulations. Can I plas ask if you come from one of those stressful roles I've police, paramedics etc? I work in IT and didn't have much to say about physical health and safety etc. My application wasn't successful today. Just trying to understand if they are looking or prefer people from certain background. Thnx

I applied after I was made redundant from being a coach driver (which I did for just 18 months) but have also worked most of my life in IT.

Im a bus and coach driver but had ten years experience prior as a shop manager, so I've got safety critical experience from driving and customer service experience from shop work.

I think demonstrating the right mindset is essential and having real life experiences to back it up with will help.

Same here, I'm really hoping that's it's straight through to DMI but I'm not sure if you can do that? Possibly it's up to WMT to decide.

Straight to DMI and job offer if successful and based on medical.

I work in local authority but have been a special constable and in the territorial army previously. I saw the advert on Facebook and they specifically mentioned they were looking for BAME and women drivers. I didn't they were allowed to do that though?

Driver manger interview
I see! It's very early days for me. So far I've submitted my application form and CV, completed a very simple online assessment and today was advised I'd be having a video interview in due course.

I don't think it's a specific advantage that you would be female or BAME or that you would get preferential treatment, I think that like many other companies currently they are encouraging of more diverse and female applicants.
I can't imagine that they are specifically rejecting anyone on the basis they aren't female or BAME.

That is very true. But now is the time to prepare for this video interview. Last time I worked on the railway was 18 years ago when I was 18. Times have changed.

Wow. Thnx guys. Best of luck again. Please keep us posted on your progress. Who knows my future train ride might be with one of you as a driver :) I m going to get a part time role in one of these fields that gives me skills I can use for train n hope they have more vacancies an hour from Northampton or even in Northampton or Kettering.
Once again well done...to be chosen from a group of 6500 ppl you must be very lucky (buy lottery tickets while your luck is shining hihi)
P.s: email says I can re-apply when they advertise again but no mention of six months waiting time... do they remind u not to reapply within six month at the application stage only? Or has anything changed and 6 months rule don't apply no more?

I'm not saying it is. Just stating what the advert said :)

I think everyone here is at totally different stages, I applied back in July, for the new st talent pool, I passed the first bit, then I had to do some ( if I remember correctly situational questions )
I received an email saying we have 6000 people apply, and then today I received an email saying I've been invited to an interview with the trainer managers and the date of this interview will be told to me as soon as they can do one.

I guess if I pass that I have to do some assessments, no idea!

I'm in the same position. It's unclear whether those who have heard they are through to Stage 2 were picked for a reason, or it's just someone sitting and going through a pile of applications that sit on their desk (figuratively speaking).

The video interview is a new bit added to this recruitment drive. You then have to do Stage 1 and Stage 2 assessments Inc MMI and then finally DMI if you get through all that. Loooooong way to go.

Definitely a long process but if you get through it all it must be very satisfying and a great sense of achievement and would be well worth the hard work.

There is another link a few pages back, I had an email to say I need to wait longer and they haven’t viewed my application yet
