I wonder what bus company will be first to put their 2023 Timetable on the internet.

It would perhaps be better to wait until a bus company publishes their winter timetable before starting a thread on the subject.

Southern Vectis have their Christmas arrangements, including the Christmas Day timetables, published in full in their 1st October timetable booklet.

Where I live, as in many parts of the country we have no buses on Sundays and that means that on any Bank Holidays when a Sunday service is operated there are no buses. Therefore after the last bus at just after 6pm on Saturday 23rd December, there will be no buses for 3 days, until they resume again on Wednesday 27th December. Then it all begins again over the New Year period. Very inconvenient that this year there will be no buses on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

And that is the service that will be operated by Pulhams this year. Sadly Pulhams aren't even going to run their Bank Holiday 801 on any of the days.

Lothian's usual comprehensive services over both Christmas and New Year are on their website.
The rest of the UK will be jealous.

trentbarton and Kinchbus are now available. As per previous years the night buses will run on New Years Eve on the main routes and Skylink (Derby/Leicester and Nottingham) will run on Boxing Day.

As usual, possibly the worst level of service over the Christmas/New Year period than anywhere in Scotland.
It's far more than what the Borders will be getting. No buses - or the Pingo - on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Ne'erday or January 2nd (but what else do you expect from a council which won't fund evening buses and thinks that a teatime finish is acceptable to bus passengers).

Borders used to have a Sunday service on Boxing Day and the 2nd and an irregular 62 and X95 on New Year’s Day all funded by Borders Council.

The Midland Bluebird area have had next to nothing for at least 25 years on said dates.

No Boxing Day or New Years Day service from Arriva in Wales either and that has been going on for years. I don't think that most of Wales gets any service on Boxing Day and given Christmas Eve is a Sunday, there won't be many buses around then either. Rather poor outlook for anyone in Wales wanting to travel over this festive period.

Yes, this was the case before Covid hit. The Berwickshire area had no service on Boxing Day.

Stagecoach MCSL have released their Christmas & New Year service levels, & big shock is apart from Maghull services 31 to 33 & Football Special, their's no services on New Year's Day, in previous years Stagecoach have operated same routes as Boxing Day but on a reduced frequency, Boxing Day services are from 8am to between 6 & 7pm

Oh yeah, Merseytravel will operate a special service on Christmas Day between 12pm & 5pm
  • Sunday 24th Dec – normal Sunday services, with an earlier finish. Last trips will generally operate no later than 7pm.
  • Monday 25th Dec – no services will operate, except for special Merseytravel contracted routes in the Liverpool City Region only.
  • Tuesday 26th Dec – Special limited timetables will operate on some of our routes in Chester, Wirral, Liverpool and South Lancashire areas.
  • Wednesday 27th Dec – In most areas, Saturday timetables will be in operation. Some routes will have additional earlier morning buses where we feel the Saturday timetable is too limited. On Wirral, and Cheshire, normal weekday timetables will be in operation.
  • Thursday 28th Dec – In most areas, Saturday timetables will be in operation. Some routes will have additional earlier morning buses where we feel the Saturday timetable is too limited. On Wirral, and in Cheshire normal weekday timetables will be in operation.
  • Friday 29th Dec – In most areas, Saturday timetables will be in operation. Some routes will have additional earlier morning buses where we feel the Saturday timetable is too limited. On Wirral, and in Cheshire normal weekday timetables will be in operation.
Saturday 30th - Normal Saturday timetables will be in operation.
  • Sunday 31st Dec – Sunday timetables will be in operation with an earlier finish. Last trips will generally operate no later than 7pm.
  • Monday 1st Jan – No services will operate, with the exception of Maghull circulars (31-33) and Football buses for the Liverpool FC home game.
  • Tuesday 2nd Jan – A normal service will operate and services will return to normal patterns of operation.

I notice from these that on Boxing Day First will be operating in Sheffield but not Leicester or Potteries. Maybe the difference is that Sheffield is in a Metropolitan area, South Yorkshire.

It is ironic that Stagecoach are operating in Liverpool on Christmas Day but not New Year's Day as such.
