    Unattended Bag Procedure

In the times before ticket barriers were fitted, I boarded an evening Leeds train at Kings X, about 15 mins before departure, went to my seat, then decided to nip back onto the concourse to get a sandwich. Going back to the train, I could see all the passengers disembarking. BTP were there in...

Does ‘the railway’ enjoy making things difficult for all its users?

You mean paying customers, nice. Your attitude is exactly what this thread's about, you're actually advocating that the railway should make it it more difficult for its users.

    Treasury Blocking electrification plans

Absolutely. Our approach doesn't enable long-term planning and execution. We prevent continuity and efficiency rather than promote it. We don't build a centre of excellence, and don't re-use experience. often in the name of 'competition'.

Flying Scotsman - Liverpool to Manchester - March 12, 1980

Your best memory of a visit to a preserved railway in the UK?

NYMR 2008, 3 A4s on the line, seeing them together at Grosmont. Plus the added bonus of the V2, that was something special.

Experiences of heritage railway operations post lockdown

Travelled on the KWVR on the first day of 'Back in Steam' on 19th August, powered by 41241. Oxenhope-Keighley return £20 for two adults in a private compartment, with free pre-booked parking, great value for money. Refreshments available in the shed at Oxenhope. Friendly and well-organised...

    Blue Pullman Returns

Completely agree, it will look stunning, especially through the Derbyshire valleys. I only saw the original parked up at Manchester Central, and will be happy to appreciate this as an impression - it's not trying to be a replica or a recreation. I hope their plans include trips with northern...

What preserved railway extension would you most like to see?

Was your study document in support of the 'petition' a few years ago ? Wonder if it will ever happen. Shame there isn't a Pickering bypass planned for the A170....
