My experience of Blackpool North's surly and extremely customer unfriendly staff is nothing to write home about either – I have gout/arthritis that restricts my mobility to the extent that I cannot walk quickly or get off a train quickly and I got screamed at three years ago because I couldn't...
. . Only thing worth adding is that where routes interconnect it is sometimes clearly stated in operator timetables that "Passengers may remain on the vehicle".
. . .With conventional signalling the driver gets a maximum single yellow approaching a terminal platform on the final home signal before the platform (or a subsidiary if the platform is partly occupied) and the driver is expected to observe the station entry speed limit and the final stopping...
Just a quickie one!
Will Curzon St and it's approaches have a short island of conventional signalling before the high speed ETCS begins, as at St. Pancras International, or will ETCS be installed right up to the buffer–stops?

Hi!
. . .Not withstanding the agreement reached with Kier over the takeover of the previous contracts for Willenhall and Darlaston Stations from the erstwhile Buckingham Group, has anybody been getting their finger out with these stations yet?
. . .Photos seem to suggest there been no tangible...
I would say if things get to a head and this couple are jailed, demolish their house and leave them homeless before they're released, level the place and make a permanent public access for station users once and for all – I have no sympathy for them!

This lovely colour –published book covers each type of traction unit or locomotive that was running on...
The second part of the question actually referred to the former junction/route/directing signal reading FROM the existing operational line that is remaining open TO the closed/line under recovery/demolition/lifting etc!
(I agree with what has been said about signals left on dismantled routes...
Once lines were closed to all traffic (goods as well as passenger traffic) what method of train working was used on such lines during recovery/demolition/track lifting operations?
Were they still treated as "signalled" lines with the necessity of "absolute block" or "single line" regulations to...
Some more accidents I would be very interested in adding to the Podcasts are those where technical signalling failures played a part, such as :–
Farnley Junction, Leeds, 1977
Charing Cross, 1938
Clapham Junction, 1988
Kensal Green, 1986
Thirsk, 1954
. . .And I would like Podcasts on :–...
