Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

Saw them at Crewe and Wigan yesterday - the other one was 805006 (as you note, both white)

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

Thank you Iskra for your reports and photographs of the Class 805 that you saw on test at Darlington and Doncaster -did you record the set number please? When I observed 807002 on the Crewe Heritage Centre webcam returning from Oxley to Merchant Park it was I believe operating with the rear...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Plated weight not reported, but a bit heavier as 4 diesel engines rather than the 3 under other 5-car Hitachi bimodes. Auroras have 8 traction motors of continuous rating 290kW (2320hp) compared to 12 traction motors of CR 226kW (2712kW) so more sluggish acceleration in electric mode.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Looks like 810 001 en-route from Old Dalby to Merchant Park as 5Q47 last night had its first mainline run in electric mode, transitioning from diesel north of Peterborough at Tallington as planned. After braking to low speed (or perhaps stop?) before Little Bytham, accelerated up the steep...

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

Thank you for the clarification. It is mentioned in February's Modern Railways (just received) that the Old Dalby test track is currently out of action following a landslip and so presumably on-going commissioning work on 810001 for EMR is taking place during overnight runs on the ECML instead...

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

Seemingly stepped-up mainline testing from Merchants Park this week, with two sets out overnight on the ECML.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Interesting thank you. Looking at progression through the line signalling blocks northbound after York during last week's brake testing runs, then on at least several occasions 810001 seems to have come close to the 125 mph line speed limit. Do you know if these runs were in electric or diesel...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Understand that the continuous rating of the traction motors of the Class 810 sets is 290kW (needed as there are only eight of them compared to twelve on previous 5-car Hitachi bimode sets). Does anyone know please whether the overnight ECML runs between Merchant Park/Darlington and York...

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

On Wednesday 13th was indeed operated by 805007 (was also a solo 'white' set the following day, but did not catch the number). From progression through the signalling blocks then possibly both climbed Madeley bank southbound from Crewe in diesel mode (but on the Thursday when passing through...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

1700421034 Is there any news of the production of the Class 810 Aurora sets, or are they behind the Avanti Class 805s and 807s in the assembly line queue at Newton Aycliffe?

Progress on Avanti West Coast's 805/807s Hitachi AT300 sets

These overnight North Wales test workings on 21st/22nd August were apparently cut short, with 5Q36 returning to Oxley from Chester at 02:43 rather than 04:30 asplanned. Does anyone know the identity of the set(s) involved?

    The Northern Belle.

Weird, as when it left Crewe on Saturday morning (13th June) on its way to Helensburgh thought that it was T&T by 67005 and 67008.

    Settle - Carlisle speeds

Thank you jp4712 for that link that gives access to electronic line speed information. Most useful. Does anyone know if there a similar link that gives electronic access to national gradient information? Many thanks. David.S
