    ASLEF strikes W/c 6th May

I think Aslef need to “shock the system” now and call a strike for every Saturday all summer. It will never happen, but I think it would really make the government sit up & take note! Leisure travel is booming, so hit those days.

It’s a step forward, for sure!

BBC News - Train drivers overwhelmingly middle-aged white men

Pointless article. If you pass the application stage, the psychometric tests, and your interview, your good enough to get the chance to be a train driver. Gender, race or sexuality is totally irrelevant.

    Northern - Trainee Driver - Manchester (14/03/24)

It’s a long old process. Try not to stress about it. Piccadilly has approx 20 vacancies to fill this year (not sure on other Northern depots). Also, I've no idea how big the pool currently is. Maybe you’ll all progress along nicely! Best of luck to all who are applying!

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

The problem they have firstly is staff. No where near enough staff on the ground. And also, not knowing how to fix the “unknown issue” is why we’ve seen no positive steps to resolve, sadly. Yeah the 7:29 New Mills service was dangerously busy this morning and shouldn’t have been short formed to...

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

All that’s happened since the closure, is monitoring equipment has been placed at the location. There is no resolution on the horizon (that’s from a Network Rail MOM this morning!) this closure is going to last way longer that predicted!

New Mills Central landslip - 6 week closure

Speaking to a NR employee.. he says They don’t have the man power or even the knowledge of how to sort the problem yet.. so I’m not surprised if it’s been extended.. I think it is going to be quite a big project to sort out.

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

I work for a TOC. I’ve seen this happen. And certain people aren’t sacked they just continue to go off sick for 6 months, then back for 6, and off again for 6!

RMT Industrial Action Update to members

I expect some of this talk of altering sick pay, is to stop people “milking the system” and going off for 6 months when they’re not actually sick, and simply taking advantage of the system. That,’in itself, will save the company money and help staffing levels!!

ASLEF Strike LNER & Northern 1st March

Conditionless 4%.. PLUS the backpay.. and yes I’m sure most drivers would say yes to that to move things forward finally

    Qualified driver interview

As above. But I wasn’t asked any rule changing questions.

Aslef overtime ban what does it mean

Any “Non Scheduled” overtime so no extra Sundays, no staying on late / coming in early, and no rest day working. Because if this there will be plenty of uncovered work which means more cancellations.

Misleading headline of a "train on fire" at Cardiff Central (19/11)

It’s a small piece of debris next to the rail, where the train was sat, that had caught fire. Nothing to report that the debris had come from the train.. and “train on fire” is a wildly far fetched headline!

Aslef strikes and OT ban called…

new strike dates only made it onto BBC news 36 mins ago, as I type this! Prior strikes are “breaking news”!! Government probably dictating to the press what and when they can post!

Aslef strikes and OT ban called…

Offer aslef the same deal as RMT.. strikes will likely be called off and the negotiations can be discussed toc by toc in the new year. It’s that simple. Attacking terms and conditions won’t fix this issue. The government have no clue how the railway ACTUALLY works.
