This might be of interest to some, especially those who like rare trackage...
The main Berlin-Dresden line is being upgraded so IC trains are rerouted via Juteborg and Falkenberg, then over the freight only line to towards Riesa then using the curve to get on the Leipzig-Dresden line. After this the trains leave this line and enter the Berlin-Dresden line between Böhla and GroBenhain. On the return journey we actually stayed on the Berlin-Dresden line until Elsterweda then reversed back towards Riesa and then directly on to the ilne to Falkenberg. Everything is non-stop between Belin Sudkreuz and Dresden Neustadt. Most of the running is at 120-140kmh with 200kmh sprints nearer to Berlin and Dresden.
On the way out of Dresden there are a large number of new intercity trains for NS parked.
