e.g. Arriva XC seem to now use a multiplier of two for the price of their 1st class seasons compared to 2nd class.

e.g. Tamworth to York adult 7 days
Not Birmingham Any Permitted
2nd 183.50 224.70
1st 366.90 449.40

Anyone else know of anything comparable, or even worse ?

(Seems like these idots are determined to price people of the railways ! )

XC do that in first class for services run with 170s! (in case you didn't know, it definitely not worth it)

Location
Bath (or Southend)
It's not quite the same, but look at this:

Southend Victoria to Prittlewell (a distance of 55ch), SDR £2.50; FDR £5.70

Bad enough? Then throw this in:

First Class Upgrade, not valid before 0845 from SOV, £10.00

Buy an SDR and then upgrade and you're paying nearly five times as much! Not to mention the ridiculous distance (even a return is less than 1½mi).
