Can anyone put a rough date on when 720104 was roaded from Derby to Worksop and back please. Seems rather strange that it moved by road but there must be a reason for this. Regarding 720505, I have this as already being at Worksop - having gone there 11.03.20 (yes - 4 years ago !!!), I wonder what the problem with this one is?

You are correct that 505 has been there since pre-Covid 2020!

5Q12 1258 Worksop to Derby Lit is running today (28/03) powered by 69008 - presumably a 720 returning to Derby ?

But still no sign of 720137 ?
I thought that 720137 was out a while ago ?.

EDIT

Only seen 720137 on test :-
You can check Greater Anglia unit allocations on RealtimeTrains now...

But I think it was 509 which was the last to enter service (for the second time). 137 still on test. 138 onwards haven't been delivered to GA yet.
That was 14/02.2024.

Typical !!

I "cleared" all the available GA 720's for a ride yesterday, so my smugness didn't even last 24 hours.... And its a long way from Brum to catch them !

Never mind, you are going to have to wait an absolute age for the last 720s to enter service. Some early built 720s risk staying as Chrismass trees until pre Covid levels of passengers are long ago exceeded. Look at how it is only now that the last 710 is expected into service soon. I try not to think about the 701s.......

From what I heard from a feedback on 720s presentation 3 more are about to enter service imminently and the rest should be in service by 2025 iirc

Thank you St Paddy, that one has been at Worksop since 07.04.21, so it is good news that it is being rescued !

Did it really have to sit at Prittlewell for 5 minutes?
It probably sat one signal beyond, at the junction, waiting for 1K15 1830 Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street to cross the junction/free its platform.
Are the platform based cameras not suitable any more for the 720s? The Southend line has them everywhere.

1K80 720524+507 Ran fast from Shenfield to Southend this evening due to DOO camera failure

You'd be pretty disappointed if you were flying from Southend airport and on that train..

Southend gets a very limited number of flights (5 outbound today), the last plane of the day was the 16:30 to Jersey, which left 41 minutes late at 17:11.
So no-one will've missed their plane (I'd also hope that anyone getting a flight would have enough spare time for a 20m wait).

The build quality of these compaired to the Stadler's is really shocking, I am on a Flirt for about 8/10 of my journeys these days but I still see far more 720s with issues on than the FLIRTS, for example, right now I'm sitting on a train with rattly panels, something banging near the bodysides and broken passenger information system with no screens.

We should not be trying to keep factories like Derby in business unless they are able to produce a quality and durable product and time after time again the stuff that is being built in Derby is far less durable than other places. If we save a factory just because it's British we're saying that essentially we care more about where a train is built than the quality of it.

Stadler are expensive. I suspect we have got what we pay for. Derby perhaps is ideal for this penny pinching country (up tp a point - as in no more orders for too long).

The 720s are possibly what we should expect.

RE: above, 720 car at Longsight, might be something to do with 720516 which went to LG 21.11.23 for some "finishing work".

Friend has just reported passing 720516 on the M62 this afternoon. Presumably coming back from Longsight to... somewhere?
