London to Stevenage query

Hi,

If I buy a Hatfield to London Z1-6 travelcard and wish to travel on the:

14:33 KGX to SVG (LNER)
14:59 SVG to KGX (LNER)

Would a Hatfield to Stevenage return cover it or would I need a BZ6 to Stevenage return? Alternatively should I just buy a Stevenage to Z1-6 travelcard instead?

A Stevenage - London Zones 1-6 travelcard will be the most straightforward way, and probably as cheap, depending on what time your outward journey is.

Using Off Peak prices:

Hatfield - London Z1-6 £20.10
Hatfield - Stevenage Single £6.70
Total £26.80

Stevenage - London Z1-6 £26.20

I’ve misunderstood what the OP wants to do.

Can the OP confirm the exact journeys s/he is making.

Stevenage to London on LNER

This would work - the only thing is to say that the Z1-6 travelcard must be issued from Hatfield.

You need the BZ6 to Stevenage return.
On your inbound trip from Hatfield the Hatfield to BZ6 is included in the travelcard.
On your outbound to Stevenage the London to BZ6 is covered by the the travelcard, then the component of that travelcard beyond BZ6 is not used, the BZ6 to Stevenage ticket is in use.
On your inbound from Stevenage the return part of the BZ6 to Stevenage is used as far as BZ6, then the validity of the Travelcard comes into effect.
On your outbound to Hatfield the whole journey is covered by the travelcard, you are using the return component from BZ6 to Hatfield.

You can't use the Travelcard to do BZ6 to Hatfield in either direction twice.
