I notice that the roster has been changed - what were the Colas loco's turns are now shown as being run by a mixture of class 20, 59,69 and 70.

Thursday - two runs by Class 70, one by class 20s (in addition to the two runs each were already scheduled to do)

Friday - all three runs by Class 69 (which had not previously been rostered for Friday at all)

Saturday - one run by class 69, one by class 70 (in addition to the two and one respectively already scheduled)

Sunday - one run by class 59 (in addition to the one already scheduled)
~~

Could it be a non-gangwayed vehicle, to allow coupling to the 70?
It was announced yesterday that Colas couldn't spare a loco hence the reallocation of turns
The extra coach is non-gangwayed.

I can't see this announcement - only a mention on the Branch Line Society's website of an updated roster. The website still says "Colas locomotive tbc")

EDIT - website updated about 30 minutes after my post.

From the Severn Valley Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/share/p/qHhuwzX8Dm3LdEi3/

Due to their mainline commitments, Colas have advised us they will not be able to supply an additional loco for our upcoming Diesel Festival. We are grateful to them for the effort that has gone into exhausting all of the options, but unfortunately it's just not achievable.

There have been some timetable amendments as a result, with the Class 69, Class 70, and 2 of the 20s getting some extra work. The amended timetable can be downloaded from the event page https://svr.co.uk/event/spring-diesel-festival/

I had a great day at the Gala today, despite having to get up at 0400 (in order to ride behind 20048). When I left at around 1600 the complex timetable was still running well, and it's been a long time since I travelled behind 5 different Class 20s in one day. Thanks and congratulations to all at the SVR who make it possible.

Enjoyed my trip today, i've wanted to see the Rail Adventure cars up close for some time but always seem to just miss them or only see them from afar until today. Some Peak haulage was always very welcome.

Decent day out. Nicely busy. Good selection of locomotives and not to many silly Billy types

Tomorrow will be different! Will avoid the westerns 50's and 69's and try to dodge the idiots!

Did the Thursday and Friday and both days were superb. Not a single delay on Thursday and even with the HST issue causing a 15 min delay in the morning yesterday, by the early evening everything was back to time so kudos to the SVR for their TT planning and for how it was actioned.

Great couple of days, catching up with a good bunch and enjoying some amazing traction - the Westerns, particularly D1062, were in fine fettle as was the Class 40 :D

There was reportedly a fight at Kidderminster a couple of hours ago that has resulted in someone being pushed off the platform, apparently a squabble over taking photos of the 73

Good grief. There’s a small element of people that turn up to these events that really need to be told to stay away in my opinion.

Normally the same ones that sag CDL isn't needed and window hanging should be allowed because they "know what they're doing".

Did the SVR security staff deal with it?

Not surprised, pushing someone off a platform is a very serious offence indeed

Indeed. Potentially attempted murder if there was a train pulling in at the time.

Sadly the behaviour at these events seems to be getting steadily worse, as with so many areas of life post Covid. It’s a pity that those who supposedly share a common interest can’t play nicely.

I was there yesterday and generally it was pretty good although being busy but not super packed helped, I certainly didn't see any thickhit behaviour personally
