It seems at the moment the Premier Service from Holyhead to Cardiff and back isn't running, and neither are the Manchester to Cardiff services with the ex East Coast sets. There were works on around Shrewsbury I believe in the last few weeks, but the line is now open again, but the trains with 1st class and catering are nowhere to be seen (on Real Time Trains). Does anyone know what the plan is? There an amended timetable for the Holyhead-Cardiff route coming soon on the TfW website, it still shows trains with 1st class at 1230 and 1430 for the Manchester to Cardiff route.

Info here:

Our First Class and food bar services will be unavailable from 12 - 29 September

From Tuesday 12, vital engineering works are being carried out by Network Rail on Dinmore Tunnel, between Hereford and Leominster. The railway will be closed between Hereford and Shrewsbury from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 21 September, and we’ll operate a replacement bus service. This will be followed by a limited rail service between Cardiff and Shrewsbury from Friday 22 September to Friday 29 September.

Unfortunately, First Class dining and our food bar won’t be available on our Premier Service between Cardiff and Holyhead and Cardiff and Manchester Tuesday 12 to Friday 29 September. We’ll continue to operate a trolley service between Cardiff and Hereford only.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause.

With the reversals taking place with the single line working then operationally they'd be a bit of a pain as drivers changing ends twice in quick succession without a route through the train is time consuming.

There's been loads of modifications, exams, branding etc carried out during the Downtime. They're mostly all in Crewe and it'll be into next week before the full 4 diagrams are up and running again.
