Really enjoyed my visit too, was fortunate enough to have a ride in the cab of 37682 courtesy of my ever generous girlfriend :)

Appalling attendance, though.

On Saturday afternoon the 40 had eight in the coach behind it at one point and two in the coach behind that. Even behind the Deltic there was plenty of space - even in the front coach.

Perhaps it was a combination of the weather, closeness to Easter weekend and the fuel situation but I've rarely been to such a modestly attended gala.

Perhaps the clash with the Llangollen gala didn't help.

EDIT : I'm told the kettle gala at Great Central was very poorly attended as well

If that was the run in tandem with the 20 it will have been because the neds were scoring the gronk! ;)
