I don't see any car threads here and this is the Other transport thread.

Post what you drive and even a picture! Just interesting to see really nothing competetive.

I'm slightly too young to start yet but I do have a few ideas, considering insurance, and being a fan of older cars i wouldnt mind an Austin Metro or something like that.

1996 Suzuki Swift 993cc automatic, four door version. Very economical to drive... typically returns about 50mpg as long as it has the premium petrol in the tank. ( With ordinary unleaded it does about 35mpg. )

We had a similar thread but it's aaaaages ago. I currently drive a 2003 5 door Mazda 3 - Petrol 1.6. Great car to drive and reasonably good on fuel economy.

My car is my other hobby. I have a 10 year old smart ForTwo. They are very much a 'marmite' but I love mine even after all the trouble it has given me over the years. It's been on a few trips to Germany and even done a couple of (scary) laps of the infamous Nurburgring!

Am I the only one who wants to do the Nurburgring driving a bendy bus?

I am a little concerned that some people are posting pics of cars with reg plates not obscured.

Ive sent a report to the mods, who will remove the pictures.

Its a very silly thing to do to post your reg number online.

I'm not sure I see the problem here. Your reg plate has to be clearly displayed on your car therefore, many many people will see it every day. Why is this different to not obscureing the plate in a photo online? Or am I missing something?

For my contribution I drive a 1996 BMW 316I SE. It's a great little family car suprisingly economical and all the SE pack gizmos still work.

Yes I don't see any problems posting it online. COnsiderin you don't go driving round with tape over your Reg plate to obscure it

2012 Fiat Panda 1.2. A real man's car :D

Bought it new less than a month ago. The Fiat 500 is obviously the number one fashion accessory right now, so you if you want a small Fiat can find some pretty good deals on new Pandas instead. I much prefer the design over the 500; it's much more practical and less cutesy.

Still bedding down, but already getting ~ 49mpg on my daily driving. Very chuffed.

Sorry, but that's just not true, if you post the reg along with engine/chassis/VIN numbers it would a silly thing to do, but if I look out of my window now I see at least 2 cars, and guess what? Yes, I can see the reg plates....

If the mods remove the pictures I'd be very surprised...

As for my own cars, I'm not driving yet, but will probably be taking part ownership of a friends 2000 Rover 45 1.6 next year, of which I attach a picture (yes I know they have a bit of an "elderly" image!) :P

A slightly frivolous purchase for a 160 mile round commute but this is my BMW 530i Sport.
Horrendously thirsty but very comfortable and more than quick enough for me. To be replaced with a newer 535d after Christmas

Nice motor there.

You travel 80 miles to woork and 80 miles back :o :o

80 miles door to door to the depot. But I only go there if my train is actually starting/being relieved there. Otherwise its diagram in hand and charge around the country looking for a freight train.

Very unlikely that crimnal gangs are working on here, but thats what they do clone your reg plates stick them on another car and then run up traffic fines.

So id say its at your own risk posting reg plates.

You mean reg plates that they could just walk down any old street collecting?

but they could do that with the millions of cars on the road at any one time, you are at just at much risk popping into town and parking up.

This thread is starting to drift slightly off topic so lets not go too far off topic

Yes you are right. There is no reason to delete the images on our part.

A silver Fiiat Punto (07 Reg) I own although I share it with my younger brother.

I currently drive a few works vehicles one of them being

ET54 OAP Ford Transit a little battered but its still going unlike some of my bosses newer Mercedes-Benz sprinters and newer ford transits.

I also used to drive buses as well my favourite being the Plaxton Beaver 2 bodied Mercedes-Benz Vario

My car is a 2008 Skoda Fabia. Engine is 1.4TDI, 80bhp and tax is a mere £30 per year. I purchased it despite a number of my mates trying to persuade me I should spend £4,000 on a BMW. I have never regretted getting it and love driving it. I may soon sell it for something with a bigger engine though and I will be sad to see it go when that time comes.

I have taken about 90 photos of it in various locations and I have two photos in particular that are joint favourites.

Further to my post earlier. Now I am on the laptop I can post a photo of my trusty steed.

beemer_zpsd57dcdac.jpg

As I say she is a 1996 BMW 316I SE. An absolute dream to drive, and fairly quick for a 1.6. On a family trip up into the peaks a few weeks ago she managed to put the biggest grin ever on my face, I don't think I have ever had so much fun with my clothes on before.

love the Mini! i always appreciate a proper Mini. Even though I'm a BMW enthusiast their excuse for a Mini is in my opinion just awful.

I've got an Peugeot RCZ.........whoops typo error 107 "Muppet Wagon"

Handy for town travel (I hire for long haul)

Still it does 50 to the gallon , £20 Road Tax, and £190 Insurance Protected NCB - and you can get a briefcase in the boot

Interesting feature on watchdog - didn't realise how many leading car makes no longer come with a "spare tyre" just a puncture repair kit !!

Peugeot (well my Mupp Wagon) still has one

I know people with People Carriers who have no spare (colleague got so fed up he bought a spare and kept it under the seats), but I didn't realise it was becoming common on saloons! Loved the guy who implied it was your fault for not checking when you buy a new car.

At least my (t)rusty Ford Focus has a space-saver spare, although when I have used it, it's scary doing the maximum 50mph on a motorway with HGVs thundering up behind you!
