Off the top of my head:

- Llangynllo - the strange situation of it being in a back garden.
- Cardiff Bay - closest to the Time Rift!
- Barmouth - cosy interior as a contrast to the rest of the weather-beaten shacks

Wrexham General has been restored well.

Stations on the Heart of Wales line, particularly Llandrindod Wales have a country feel.

The terminus at Aberystwth, with the Wetherspoons strategically placed!

Llandudno Junction as it is my home town :D

Knucklas, as it is closest to the border! ;)

Aberystwyth has a nice station, ditto Swansea

The new Gowerton is an outstanding station. I loved the old one, but the new one is just fantastic - and it now seems to have a TVM as well!

Seriously, though, I quite like Ferryside, though it's a shame the buildings were demolished and replaced by waiting shelters.

Biased here as I started my hobby at Swansea so it'll always be my favourite station. Apparently it's been done up since I was last down that way, so I've not been back as I want to preserve the good times and memories in my head. If that makes sense!

Certainly NOT that monstrosity at Newport.

Agreed! In my book, Newport would be the WORST station in Wales!

It has indeed been done up, and it is now a lot brighter with a good view of the platforms from the concourse, since the old brick wall separating the two has been replaced by glass.

There is much more open and modern feel, and has been regarded as a big improvement by those, like myself, who use the station regularly.

Perhaps unfairly, I would not describe it as the best in Wales because of the surrounding area!

I agree the newly refurbished station at Swansea is let down by some of the run down buildings surrounding the station in particular down High Street.

Hopefully the council will get on with it and really clean the area up.

Now all we need in Swansea are some overhead wires installed and emu's along with some trams running outide the station down to Mumbles.

Definitely. The old Elysium is a particular eyesore. As the main approach to the city centre form the railway station, High Street does not present a very warm or attractive welcome for travellers.

So much so that I sometimes advise visitors to consider walking down Orchard Street instead. Although not very attractive in itself, I find it preferable to High Street

Absolutely!

I like Betws-y-Coed in Conwy both the Station and the Town itself.

Suprised no one has nominated Llanelli yet

Mine has to be Pontypridd. It might look a little run down now but it's not too difficult to imagine it in its heyday, with all seven platform faces in use; the Refreshment Rooms and the 'Next Train to ...' board at the top of the steps with the destinations shown alongside clock faces. Sadly, the ornate ground level buildings are gone forever.

Hopefully Pontypridd will get a facelift over the next couple of years with electrification arriving and one of the bay platforms being re-opened

That honour goes to Chepstow (300 metres from the border, as opposed to 450 m for Knucklas).

Knighton's station beats them both - its in England as is Treyclawdd RFC's rugby pitch.

Roof and canopy are being renovated at moment. Borth Station museum worth a visit too.

I always like going past it it so easily could have been demolished.

Dovey Junction - only place you can watch a pair of nesting Ospreys.

I should add Cwmbran - A takeaway on the platform with reasonable prices certainly beats the cafe at Worcester Foregate Street :P

Knighton is an English station, and this thread is about Welsh stations. I thought it was obvious that I meant the closest Welsh station to the border 8-)

But doesn't Knighton station come under Welsh rules? IIRC.,..

If they are improve the station at Merthyr Tydfil how about putting in a siding so that a unit can stable overnight rather than come up from Cardiff. This would allow Merthyr to gain earlier services to/from Cardiff
