London to Calais fares?

East coast and EMT says no, but I didn't explain I didn't want a Eurostar ticket. so I brought a travel card and became a mole for the day!

Just to clarify do you get a discount with a Gold Card on this fare? I'm thinking of doing this tomorrow. Can I buy from a machine or should I head straight to the ticket office?

I did this trip yesterday - an enjoyable day out!
Couple of bits of information if any other forum members are considering it:
1. My local station Streatham Hill struggled to find the fare despite showing her brfares.com on my phone. They could only find a Eurostar period return for £100+. In the end I got it from Waterloo who didn't have any problem selling it to me.
2. The P&O bus is a bit of a rip off at £2 given it's only a 20-25 minute walk if you know where you're going. (I got the bus there and walked back). Buses leave Dover Priory at xx10, xx30 and xx50
3. They are very strict on the 45 minute check-in rule which is frustrating as you end up being one of the first passengers on the boat about 20-30 minutes before it leaves. On the flip side it means you get to choose where to sit. I don't see why they couldn't make the bus leave 30 minutes before check-in which would bring it in to line with the rules for cars.
4. Don't bother with the bus in Calais - it's only a 20-30 minute walk to the centre and is pretty well signed (although it does take you through a slightly grotty area of town).
5. On my return I asked at Dover Priory if it was possible to excess so I could use HS1 but was told you can't on this ticket.
Overall an enjoyable but long day out and a bargain I think at £37.40 (couldn't get a Gold Card discount).

This is incorrect as I upgraded to use HS1 when I made this trip, I had to pay about £3 extra.

You could have just boarded and paid the guard.
For anyone interested in doing this as a PRIV fare, I emailed P&O who have said the Port Tax tickets can only be booked by telephone. They said that this is because foot passengers are limited, though I can't imagine there being too many to travel - I rang up the evening before and had no problems anyway.
You can call them on 01304 863000 (option 2) or use their 0871 number (i'm too tight
). If you want to email them first for any info I found them very helpful. [email protected]. Make sure you have your ATOC staff travel pass to hand as they require the number on it.
It costs £3 for a return Port Tax Ticket and you must state which ferries you will take when booking although I ended coming back on an earlier one at no extra cost. I would think that unlike the standard day rail fare, you could make the return a later date if you wanted to make this trip as part of an on going journey. I used a day return from STP - DVP + high speed.
The P&O bus from DVP to the Port leaves at xx:10, xx:30, & xx:50. Returning from the Port to DVP at xx:00, xx:20 & xx:40. Cost is £2 though it can be walked in 20 minutes (I just missed the bus on the return leg so decided to walk as it was quicker than waiting to catch the bus).
At Calais I walked to the town as it's closer - It took less than 10 minutes to get to the fringe of the town. You leave the ferry terminal and turn right, up a pedestrian footbridge, over the port fence and alongside a multi storey car park before dropping back down to and turning right along the port road into town. It is well signed though so you shouldn't get lost!. I wandered down to the beach and through town grabbing some lunch en route. A very leisurely affair.
