I enjoyed this use of English by head coach Stuart Gray in his notes in the Sheffield Wednesday programme yesterday.

...."But nothing should ever prevent any player from giving less than 100% and that must be the starting point."

Can someone offer me an explanation why football seems to attract scummy owners?

Only a guess but perhaps they see the amount of money generated in the game and want in? I suspect there is a lot of revenue in football and if you're scummy enough you can slash outgoings and rake in the money before disappearing when the **** hits the fan (not necessarily selling the club)

We were never title contenders anyway. There are a good few teams in the mix for a Champions League place though which makes it more exciting.

Still not exciting as the bottom half of the table. Although I'd rather the Villa weren't involved again

And the good news of Joe Kinnear resigning has brightened my evening a little

Manchester City 0..Chelsea 1

That result makes life at the top of the Premiership "interesting".

I can't believe Jose bushwacked City, and as for his comments on MOD after regarding Liverpool as possible title favourites due to no CL Games - if only

Can City recover ???

Can City recover ???

Of course they can, they lost a game against what is a very good side.

Alternatively: I'm not sure, their defeat in Wales at the weekend makes life rather precarious for the Canaries ;)

Are they about to fall off their perch :p

I thought he looked tired and disinterested in his interview on Saturday after the drubbing Swansea had. I told Mrs Greenback he reminded me of Ian Holloway earlier this season, just before he left Palace.

Looks like I was right about something for once!

OMG...why ???

Sacked, it is evident there has been disharmony for the past few weeks and Huw Jenkins has said
However, after thinking long and hard about the best way forward, I felt it was unlikely we would achieve a stable environment at the club to allow us to get back to basics and produce the performance levels that have served Swansea City so well over the last few years

Garry Monk is to take caretaker manager for the game on Saturday against Cardiff
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

In 2012 the Gibraltar-based company lent Leeds £1.7m at 7% interest for repayment in 2015. I'm assuming although repayable in 2015 they've defaulted on instalments.

Laudrup should have left last summer by the looks of things...Malky McKay for the Swans!

Will Laudrup be sighted in the Job Centre in Abertawe tomorrow , perhaps he'll bump into Malky McKay and they can compare notes on how hard it is to survive on a multi-million pound payout :p

To be fair the shine has been off Swansea this year. Certainly not the team they were last year and the year before that.

Not that I'm in a position to talk about teams that haven't been as good this year as in previous years though! ;)

Swansea are still 12th mind. Silly time to go at the start of February though - no transfers until May...

True - but that's only 5 points off bottom. Swansea are well in truly in a relegation scrap.

As for the timing - bonkers, I don't understand it either!

Judging from huw Jenkins the chairman has said seems his position is untenable, it's rumoured he has fell out with a fair few number of players, as well as Jenkins himself

A friendly LUFC supporter said:
A winding-up petition from the company that pays the club to advertise on their shirts; that withdrew their backing from David Haigh's consortium bid - causing it to fail; then said they were withdrawing their shirt sponsorship when Mcdermott was 'sacked' - but are now part of a new bid, together with Haigh again, and others including Adam Pearson. Pearson was Commercial Director under Ridsdale at Leeds, but left before that particular debacle played out. He then bought Hull; tried to buy Huddersfield; bought Derby; and later bought Hull FC rugby league club. Pearson is a lifelong Huddersfield Town supporter. [Haha!] I get the impression Enterprise are struggling financially, and desperate to make some sort of 'killing' out of Leeds, which has now been trumped. I like Cellino already. It is not for nothing that our club song includes the line "And we've had our ups and downs"!
Even for non-football lovers like me, Leeds do bring their moneysworth of entertainment.

Always good to see people delighting in the bad times of Leeds, shows they actually care....

The club's owners, which is still GFHC put out a statement on the OS saying that the winding up petition had no legality. Although, i'm not willing to believe anything they say.

Who knows what will happen yet. The weekend trip to Yeovil is going to be fun, staying down in Taunton on Friday night.

From a Cardiff's fan point of view, I don't think Laudrup's sacking could have happened at a better time! Looks like their in a bit of chaos down west, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is now a split with the players (especially after the incident between Chico Flores and Garry Monk).

True - but that's only 5 points off bottom. Swansea are well in truly in a relegation scrap.

Especially if we beat them on the weekend.
