I just find it really cheap and nasty, lack of foresight and lack of thought for passengers. The seats aren't really adequate for standard class passengers let alone 1st class.
Have you sat in them? I find them very comfortable indeed in Standard.
I agree they are inadequate for First Class, which should be 2+1 on that kind of service.
sure we've had this disagreement in what is and what isn't comfortable before, but I don't get how they can be described as "very comfortable". Your sofa at home must be rock hard

I agree, I don't know which planet you must be on to find these seats very comfortable. "Okay", or "decent enough for a shortish journey" I can accept but I struggle to see how they could be described as "very comfortable". A numb bum is the order of the day after enduring two hours from Harpenden to Brighton. Always try to catch a 377/5 myself!sure we've had this disagreement in what is and what isn't comfortable before, but I don't get how they can be described as "very comfortable". You've copied and pasted only a partial link again...
I saw them out today at South Croydon. They do look quite smart, but I am disgusted at the fact that they can expect people to pay a premium for a first class area that is worse than some trains on the line have in standard. The Gatwick Express stock has had very nice first class until now, why is such a stupid short sighted move being put in place? There is still absolutely no difference between first and standard, how is this a train 'designed for the airport traveller'?

Great photo, spotted the little poppy on the front left side387201 today Gatwick
Govia will simply be supplying the cheapest train possible within their contract. So the answer to your question is ultimately David Cameron.
I'm not sure well-appointed First Class accommodation would/will be Jeremy Corbyn's highest priority, either...

How long before they end up throughout the network, not just on Gat Express/Brighton duties?
Rumours they might first be in service on non Gatwick services.
Any news on when the 387s will be hitting the Gatwick Express route? (Apologies if this has already been discussed recently, I tried searching for it but couldn't find anything)
It is good to see the poppy within the lamp bracket.
Early 2016 I believe. They need a unit in order to train the drivers on them.
Sorry, I meant when will they enter service?
Any guesses to what brand Govia is going to print on the side of the train?![]()
Really why?
