On BBC Radio Cumbria today a spokesman said all the buses had been moved to safety at another location and it would be a few weeks before the Carlisle depot would be back in use.

In today's Carlisle News and Star there is a 15%page article stating the buses were moved to the Lowther Street bus lane and also a lorry park with a night time photo of Solos and E200s parked up in the southbound Lowther Street bus lane .

From the Stagecoachbus site update page for today..............

If it was heading away from Heysham towards the M6, most likely one of the new B8RLE/Wright Eclipse 3s for the Cambridge Busway on delivery.

well according to Stagecoach site at the moment 555 is running to Grasmere with an additional hourly (off-peak) 555 direct to Penrith via M6, presumably to afford connections into the X5.

Yesterday (Tuesday) we traveled south on the M6 and between Penrith and Tebay passed a green trident with 555 Penrith on the front.

Here is the current status from the Stagecoach site. Note that re 685 long (i.e. Carlisle<>Newcastle) is worked by Stagecoach E300 and Arriva Scania Omnicities and there is a 7.5ton mgw limit on the bridge over the Eden at Warwick Bridge. The 685 shorts are worked by Solos.

Hi,

I expect that it is one of the ex-Fife vehicles recently transferred to Morecambe. The batch were 22872 to 22890, but I don't think that they are all going to Morecambe.

Will be one of the ex-Dunfermline MAN E300s, being transferred here to replace the non-DDA ALX300s.
Batch supposed to be 22872-88, but 22889 has also arrived now...

Ah, thanks. Saw it earlier, i think, or one with something in a window that looked odd, and saw that one later in the day.

Did I see 22580 on the A6 in Carnforth being followed south by 22879? Raining heavily, and struggled to find the number

22580 and 22879 did indeed arrive at Morecambe today, joining sisters 22872/5-8/80-3/5/6/8-90 that had arrived previously.

Some of the MANs are apparently off the road awaiting major unit repairs - as it's so critical that Morecambe get them, whatever serviceable E300s there are available are being sent. They'll be swapped back for the intended vehicles when repairs are complete.

Ah, why so critical? The X-Reg MANs are OK for service until 2019? Or are they going elsewhere? They give the impression of being in reasonable condition.

For reference, here's a list of them:
22872 SP09 DPF
22873 SP09 DPK
22874 SP09 DPN
22875 SP09 DPO
22876 SP09 DPU
22877 SP09 DPV
22878 SP09 DPX
22879 SP09 DPY
22880 SP09 DPZ
22881 SP09 DRO
22882 SP09 DRV
22883 SP09 DRX
22884 SP09 DRZ
22885 SP09 DSE
22886 SP09 DSO
22887 SP09 DOH
22888 SP09 DOJ
22889 SP09 DOU
22890 SP09 DPE

It's not so easy now to identify them when you're driving past them is it, since the fleet number isn't derived from the registration and they're rarely a continuous run.

When I was looking those up, I saw Fife had some X7xxNSE MANs- how did we come to have one of those- 22721?

22721 wasn't a Fife one, it was meant to go to Bluebird but got diverted to Morecambe before entering service if I remember rightly.

The X-reg ALX300s at Morecambe aren't DDA compliant. Hence the urgency for E300s arriving.
Yes, Morecambe already have 2 native MAN E300s ex-Lillyhall.

I can't remember the history behind 22721 but it definitely started life with Bluebird/Fife; I can't remember if the TV screen on it is from that period in its life or from a later project with Lancaster Uni.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Not Stagecoach but a B10 of Reays was working a 58 service in Workington today. Non DDA surely???

Most of their B10Ms have been upseated to 3+2 for schools, so will presumably have had their standee capacity removed and will therefore be classed as coaches.

22721 (or 820 originally) came from Fife-Scottish and carried their internal notices for a good few years after transfer. Notable for a slightly different engine note and being slightly more powerful than the rest of the MANs. I can't remember how it came to be at Morecambe but I have something about duplicate registrations for 820 in my head. It was a long time ago now.

22827 was the bus fitted with the TV monitor and GPS system as part of a real time tracker/advertising experiment by students at Lancaster university. It spent most of its time broken.
