Honesty, don't harp on about a load of insignificant info, listen very carefully to the question asked and think on why it's being asked as all questions directly relate to your suitability to the role, suit and tie, eye contact, don't cover your mouth or look away when answering a difficult question and don't be drawn in to rushing your answers.

I don't work for Southern, but my interview for a drivers job was much more customer focussed then I'd imagine it would have been.

Pretty much, had a lady from HR wanting to know all the customer service side of things and what I knew about the company (bulk of the interview), then a driver manager wanting to know the safety aspect of things, and if I'd be able to wake up at 2:30 in the middle of January for work.

I had my Multi Model Interview first though, so that might have had some baring on the structure of my interview with the driver manager.

They will ask you what you know about the role of a train driver, what you know about the company, why you want to be a driver, times when you have worked alone, times when you have had to improvise, if they asked your mother what you were like what would she say? Give an example of when you have worked as part of a team to achieve a common goal, how would you feel about a fatality,
What measures you would put in place to deal with shift work, what hobbies do you have ? you can't bang on about safety enough just keep dropping it in as often as necessary look smart and make sure you know your job role as best you can geographical knowledge of the company is also asked where do they run services to, give an example of when you have done something from start to finish. These are all the questions I was asked there was probably more but you get the drift.
