Got an assessment a couple of weeks ago in the end and passed. Still waiting for DMI. Was yours very formal or more of a relaxed/get to know you affair?

I've just been offered an assessment for January. Any reason they are doing them in Croydon when the job is Cambridge? It's going to be an early start for me that day!

Because all of GTRs offices are now based in Croydon.

Is anyone still waiting for a DMI? I passed assessments early December but not heard a thing since. Didn't think much point in chasing by email as nothing ever seems to get acknowledged/answered. Also don't want to pester too much!

Hi guys, just got an email today with the date for my LM interview for the Cambridge trainee driver job. Early February. Hopefully if all goes well all I have to tackle is the dreaded MMI. Any advice??? What did people look up regarding the company etc and did he ask you anything that could have caught you out?

Passed my DMI, and had my MMI today. No idea how it went yet, honestly feel 50/50 on it so we will see. Much what people described really, perhaps a little bit more relaxed than I was expecting which was good. Hopefully find out next few days. I'll keep you all posted.

Hi Guys,

Just wondered if any of you had heard anything? I did my assessment day in Dec, DMI in Feb and MMI last month, so just waiting for a medical. I spoke to Trudy-Ann and doesn't sound like there is likely to be a course for Cambridge depot this year! She said I'd have a better shot if I considered Hitchin, which yeah sounds great, but I don't live within an hour of!! My application was for KL which is only 10 minutes.

That's interesting as I am also waiting for Cambridge and had my medical last month, I had heard there are some courses planned for the summer. I was told they don't put you through for the medical until they have a rough idea of a course date so I'm hoping there will be some dates this year.

Are you happy to work at Cambridge even though you applied for Kings Lynn?

I'd bite their hand off for Cambridge! I'd probably consider Hitchin too in all honesty just to get my foot in the door. It was an eye opening phone call. If I hadn't asked I'd be looking at my phone every day waiting!

Yeah me the same. Trust said that Cambridge was all booked up most off this year now. I'm only 1.6 miles from Bedford. I missed the application for it though hence why I went for Cambridge, she picked up on this however and has put me down for Bedford instead which suits me down to the ground!!!

Waiting game now. From what she said and looking on here I'm not expecting anything until end of year really

I'm still waiting for the results of my MMI, fingers crossed. Interesting what you guys/girls have said about depots - once in the "pool" can you offer to take any GTR location that you're within an hour from and not just what you originally applied for? So not just Great Northern but Thameslink/Southern Depots as well?

Sorry, only just seen this,

From what I understand they are able to move you around. I guess it has to suit them as much as it does you, but in my situation I applied for Cambridge mainly to get my foot in the door. Just lucky they picked up on it and moved me to Bedford which obviously being just down the road suits me down to the ground... And them too in theory. I don't suppose it will hurt putting the offer in. But it seems they are pretty hot on picking out addresses and nearest stations. They picked up on mine in the DMI and said they could put me at hitchin. So I think moving across from northern/southern/thameslink is possible rather than just wishing the line you applied for. Don't ask you don't know I suppose!

I've heard rumours of a possible Hitchin course but that's it. Hoping these Cambridge courses start to appear over the summer.

Yes I've had a medical and said I'm happy for Hitchin but I had my medical in March for Cambridge.
