the rowing back is happening in earnest:

Some Tory type on the radio representing leave: We didn't promise to spend on health, we didn't promise that the economy wouldn't suffer and perhaps most tellingly: We didn't promise to reduce the numbers of immigrants!

Farage on GMB ( GMB for gods sake!) : https://twitter.com/GMB/status/746218028195426305

Interesting how he only clearly stated his stance on this matter after the referendum. It's not like he, a politician, would avoid the truth in order to help a cause he supports...!

I am not sure if a certain saying by a British Prime Minister is known in your country but on 19th November 1967, Harold Wilson in a television appearance about sterling devaluation said....

"It does not mean that the pound in Britain, in your pocket or your purse or in a bank has been devalued."

No, but we import things and I can see prices being adjusted upwards. So when we go to buy something IN POUNDS, we'll be asked to hand over more of them.

Has anyone owned up yet to making the decision of the "£350 million" figure being emblazoned upon the "Leave" campaign bus. Someone must have taken that decision and that particular message was seen in many places.

If the leaders of the 2 main parties and all the backing they have couldn't persuade the electorate to vote "remain" then they didn't deserve to win the vote.

Well. Let's take the £350 million pounds a week we'll save and put it into a bank account and leave the UN, and get hit by Russian nuclear missiles and let Britain sink. That's your plan, isn't it Mr Farage?

Perhaps my thinly-veiled sarcasm aimed at Harold Wilson's 1967 statement must have been better veiled than I had hoped but I most certainly did not intend it to be more akin to a Romulan cloaking device...:D

What bus? Did you see a bus? I didn't.

(Is what they'll probably say).

Sorry, it did go over my head. With the day I've had, I think I should stop saying anything else and go to bed.

Or hope that I'm already sleeping and this was all a dream.

There will be a phone call from the EU to Wales where they will claim all the money they were given was actually a loan and that they want all their money back :)

Despite that Wales voted to leave

Well I wanted remain. I'm disappointed and ashamed to be British, but especially disgusted to be from Hull.

See post #578, what will actually happen is described.

Boston in Lincolnshire recorded the highest leave vote, obviously connected in no small way to the massive influx of migrants in the town.

No tin foil hat for you, full on nuclear shelter it is.
Farage will destroy them before the missile strike: it's part of his plan to pretend to speak for us and be our friends, and when we completely trust him, he will brainwash us, stage an election, and become Prime Minister. He will make us leave the UN, and then invite President Putin to launch all of Russia's nuclear missiles and then laugh as we get massacred. Brexit is the first phase of his plan, which is working, but he hasn't fooled me. I so far am the only person to know about it, but I'm warning you now. He is an evil murderer, beware!

That's actually an anomaly. For the most part, the highest remain vote was in areas with the highest net migration, and the highest leave vote was in the areas with the lowest net migration. See http://www.theguardian.com/politics...b0be24d34f5e21#block-576d1ccce4b0be24d34f5e21

This is completely in line with the way the leave campaign was based on ignorance and lies.

No need to worry about a thing, didn't any of you see President (for a bit longer) Obama say that we still have a special relationship with the good old US of A and will continue to do so, surely that doesn't mean Dave got him to lie to us a couple of weeks ago

Trump loves us as well, he said so this morning, so we can sleep well tonight, even in Hull

Izzard and Geldof are to blame, between them they probably lost a million votes.

Don't forget to give Branson his fair share of blame, make it 1,500,000 votes

The thread's just turned 24 hours old, and we're hitting 600 posts. That's a post every 2.4 minutes. Has any other thread here ever gone with such a bang?

In an idle moment, I just wondering what it would be like when a newly independent Scotland sent a formal note to President Trump to say that the American deep water nuclear naval entity off the West Coast of Scotland was to be removed forthwith. Would he make a quietly considered and thoughtfully composed response...or would he be like his normal self...:D

Best not for you to joke, I believe you are close enough to Scotland to be affected by the nuclear fallout ...........

I've got a neighbour who I loathe, just the one, know it all, done it all, going to do it all, knew Remain would win easily, he's from Hull
Because it's one letter away from being Hell
Well then, I admit: the council is c-r-a-p, the houses are c-r-a-p, the people are c-r-a-p, the roads are c-r-a-p and the trains are c-r-a-p, but we have one thing everyone else doesn't have.
