I can confirm it is DDA. Another local operator looked into buying them, of whom I have a contact within, and he confirmed they were certified at the time of conversion to single door.

In that case, I shall dispense with the deerstalker and go about my lawful business elsewhere.:)

I managed to get a visit round Williams Travel of Camborne earlier this week. In the yard was former Go Ahead, Western Greyhound and Royal Buses Dart NA52 AWW in a red colour scheme still with legals for the St Ives based company.

Sadly the former Plymouth Citybus Dart that was here recently had moved on and staff could give me no clues to it's identity.

Hayle Travel Vario T36 JBA spotted on the eastbound A30 near Mitchell this afternoon on what appeared to be private hire duties.

Hayle Travel and also Rosevidney Travel are both very reasonably priced for private hire. certainly the cheapest quotes we received by far for a vehicle capable of transporting 23 persons.

An unidentified Volvo coach in the livery of "The Little bus company" (Hertfordshire based) being worked on in the Roselyn depot at St Blazey today. A photo shoot also taking place in front of a (new?) coach registered 728 FDV.

New shuttle bus service between Cornwall Airport Newquay and Truro

Wednesday, 22 June, 2016

A new shuttle bus service linking Cornwall Airport Newquay to Truro aimed at making access between the city and the airport cheaper and more convenient for Cornwall and Isles of Scilly residents and visitors is being introduced next week.
The new pilot service is the result of an innovative partnership between Cornwall Council, Cornwall Airport Newquay and Coastline Travel, the official taxi partner at Cornwall Airport Newquay. Beginning on Monday 27 June, the service will run throughout the day from Monday to Saturday until 3 September.
The shuttle service will run from the Airport to the Park and Ride at Threemilestone, Truro, stopping at Truro Train Station along the route. It will also stop at Treliske Hospital on request.
Announcing the new service Bert Biscoe, Cornwall Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport said: “Many people, not least our neighbours and friends on the Isles of Scilly, have expressed frustration at the problems getting from the airport to Truro (and back again!). For the Scillonians this is not a luxury item – it’s often about getting to a hospital appointment. So, thanks to the people at Coastline for coming forward with a proposition that will help to make Cornwall Airport Newquay an even more important part of Cornish life - bon voyage!”
Adam Paynter, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Resources, added: “We have listened to users of the airport who wanted a regular bus service to and from the train station and other popular destinations. We hope this new service will be well used by travellers, especially those from the Isles of Scilly, some of whom have experienced problems getting from the Airport to Truro for hospital appointments and specifically asked us to find a solution.”
Al Titterington, Managing Director at Cornwall Airport Newquay, said: “The new service will offer a much needed public transport link between the Airport and Truro. The fare represents a significant saving on the equivalent taxi cost which will especially benefit those travelling alone or in small groups.
We are initially running this as a trial so we can look at how well it is used but, if there is the level of demand we expect, we would certainly hope to extend it past the beginning of September”.
Mark and Sara Rickard, owners of Coastline Travel, added: “We are pleased to partner with Cornwall Council and Cornwall Airport Newquay to deliver this new and vital link to Truro. We know the demand is there and we expect the service to be very popular and would therefore recommend passengers to pre-book to guarantee their seat and avoid a wait.”
Fares for the new service will be £10 one way or £18 return.
To book please call 01637 222 222. Advance booking is advised to guarantee your seat.

I am none the wiser as to whether this is a bus i.e. stage carriage service or not or a glorified taxi service. If it's stage carriage, then concessionary passes should be accepted.

I was wondering myself, when I am next in Newquay I'll see what I can find out from observing the service / asking staff.

They don't appear to have a o-licence, and no registration found with the traffic commissioner.
Their online fleet list states they have 4 x 8 seaters and 1x 16 seater minibus all available for private hire only.

A2B Newquay are running a shuttle service between Watergate Bay & Newquay in conection with the Boardmasters festival.

Up to five different deckers were seen this morning using the temporary bus stop, for the event, at the west side of Watergate Bay.

hopleys and travel cornwall helped out

the whole transport op at the event looks really bad to me first were doing well from people walking down into watergate to catch the 56 into newquay due to it being cheaper.......

meanwhile ques on the site in the evening with a operation to shift large numbers of people which sees the use of optare solos and midi darts really does look poor

That's all that Hopleys and Travel Cornwall have between them.
Wheel Briton and williams have a few Olympians and other than that the only other operator with deckers I know of is A2B Newquay other than First,

I had a bad experience on Thursday when traveliing on the number 11 bus (Plymouth Citybus) from Plymouth Royal Parade (leaving 14.45 ) to Bodmin Mount Folly. The driver for the Liskeard/Bodmin stretch drove erratically. Several times I had to grab hold lest I fall off my seat. I was sitting at the back with a suitcase and two bags. I was worried about the limited time to get off the bus so I started easing my suitcase out from in front of the back seat before we reached my stop, but the driver fairly hurtled down the hill to Mount Folly and I had to hold on with both hands. When we stopped and others got off, I got my suitcase out from the back seat and over the step at the back. Other passengers shouted to the driver that someone is still getting off because the driver had closed the doors and was about to go. He opened the doors again. I had got my suitcase half way down the aisle when he suddenly drove off and I fell over backwards. People shouted. He just said he has to turn the bus round in Priory car park. I sat on a seat and was able to get off after he had turned round. I usually thank the driver when I get off but not on this occasion!

The reason I was sitting at the back with my luggage was because the suitcase was too large for the luggage racks provided. Also I did not want to cause an obstruction by putting my luggage in one if the spaces at the front for buggies, prams and wheelchairs. Next time I will sit at the front and risk causing an obstruction. It's every man and woman for himself/herself on Plymouth Citybus!

TheGrandWazoo, yes I was complaining to the forum. The forum seemed appropriate since it is about bus operators other than First Kernow. I feel a whole lot better now that I have told others about my experience. No doubt it will come to the attention of someone at Citybus. I expect someone keeps an eye on the forum to see what people are saying about them. If I wanted to complain directly, who should I write to anyway?
