First Kernow buses without all blinds working will be DDA certified but faulty. An R Reg Vario won't be certified

I was specifically referring to buses which don't have any blinds - rather than faulty ones.

Isn't the blinds requirement for small buses less onerous than larger ones?

Got to say that First have long been dreadful at ensuring their vehicles' side and rear screens always work as they should, surely that should be a MOT test fail.

The entire fleet is all newer than 2001 now, barring a few deckers which have been retrospectively certified. Those buses you mention will have had the blind working at the time of certification, and so are certified.

I believe that you need a certificate to say the bus is compliant. Once you have a certificate all is well despite any changes made after it was issued.
Would be wrong. It's a potential prohibition and in a worse-case scenario a prosecution if it's an ongoing flouting of the accessibility regulations, and neither counts as 'all is well' if an operator is trying to explain them away in front of a Traffic Commissioner.

That's like saying because a vehicle passed its MOT it's roadworthy until the next test. We all know that's not true. The DVSA will PG9 anything being used on a scheduled service that is obviously not PSVAR compliant. I know this because they told me it.

The threat from DVSA and their lack of enforcement obviously isn't being taken seriously.

Following up from some previous postings, Roselyn have repainted Trident W716 RHT in it's standard green. Meanwhile another is receiving attention in the workshops. Meanwhile Mounts Bay coaches have repainted their Mercedes Sprinter minibus white.

Two of the Roselyn Trident's have been painted and were seen when passing on the number 24 bus today. They have also been re-registered so I'll try and get more details when I am next up that way.

Meanwhile this Williams Travel coach was displayed in Truro. I don't know how long they have had it but I've not seen it before.

This trip took place on Saturday 15th April and involved travel on four Volvo Olympians of Williams Travel. We took deckers to places they rarely if ever visit including Gunwalloe and Cusgarne where we negotiated the narrow lanes and low trees! Thanks to Ian our driver for the day who was great and seemed to enjoy it almost as much as the passengers. His professionalism and skill in taking the vehicles to remote places deserves credit.

Jacketts are ceasing operations from the end of the school year. Plymouth citybus are taking over their public service routes. I look forward to seeing what PCB put on the St Neot to Menheniot route, as I have been told by Mr Jackett that the smallest of Darts can't turn in one of the villages, due to the incline of the road and a wall meaning they either have to hit the wall or bottom out on the incline at the front on reversing into the turning place, and at the back pulling out. Jacketts use a Renault Master minibus for the route.

PCB are loaning Jacketts 203 until they cease due to jacketts being a vehicle short following a RTA.

When does the Summer timetable start and how can I get a copy? I plan most journeys using traveline southwest, but it is nice to have a copy of the timetable to browse. I sometimes find timetables available on buses but it is usually just before it goes out-of-date.

That is a shame, I don't know much about their operations however lately their buses have been reasonably turned out and running to schedule when I have been in Plymouth. That has not always been the case in the past.

What is the reason behind them closing down?

First Kernow start late May bank holiday. First Kernow and go cornwall are only ones who do a full network timetable. Go cornwall normally have timetable books on the rack on their vehicles.
Plymouth citybus and Stagecoach only offer booklets for individual routes

He's had enough of the local councils I think is the polite way of saying it.

Thanks, richw. I had a timetable some months ago - I cannot remember where I got it from - but it was entitled Buses Operating From Bodmin.

Who is Go Cornwall? Is it the new name for Travel Cornwall?

Go Cornwall is the official name for the Go Ahead services. Most of the buses are in PCB livery as PCB are also owned by Go Ahead, and they swap vehicles around frequently). Go Cornwall are basically the services operated by Go Aheads liskeard depot (former Western Greyhound).
The fleet list I had about 2 weeks ago had 6 Citaros, 5 Darts and 1 Enviro 400 are assigned to Go Cornwall liskeard depot.

Two large cruise ships are in Falmouth today. A number of smaller Cornish operators provided transport to various destinations using an assortment of vehicles. Main operator was OTS, also noted was Williams Travel, Hayle Travel and King Harry. A First Kernow coach was also seen exiting the Docks.

Here a flavour of the proceedings this morning:-

Roselyn have purchased it. Target are using the plain white ex PCB President bodied bus they replaced this with again.

A well positioned contact suggested Roselyn offered Target more than they paid for them, so a very quick deal was struck.
