Is it possible to buy a day travel card with a PRIV? Specifically using national rail into London then tubes/buses etc. Thanks

No, it is not possible, unfortunately, whatever services you intend to use.

If you have protected status, you will need to load it onto an Oyster card, but normal daily caps apply.

However if you only need to use NR services, you can now load unprotected PRIV onto Oyster cards too for use only on NR services.

There used to be one, but it was tube/DLR only. It's no longer available

you could by one single journey from a national rail station to an underground station, from outside the London area.

for example you could by a return from Basildon to any tube station, lets say Covent Garden for £5.40 priv return, this would of course not be cost affective if you worked for c2c, "U" tickets from inside the London boundary have been withdrawn although are in the system are not to be sold (although some slip through)

otherwise its contactless or Oyster, which isn't a great deal of money

Some ticket offices, particularly Paddington, won't sell tickets with a '+' with Priv discount, despite the ATOC travel guide document explicitly stating it is acceptable. There are a few unpleasant long serving clerks there who seem to begrudge 'us newbies' anything.

<(<(<(<( GWR needing a kick up the backside - if you want a Marlow to Colchester or Peterborough to Bodmin Parkway Priv ticket there is no reason to refuse the sale if you hold TOCNE Priv card or STC (boxes) !!

I am intrigued as to why they wont sell this, anyone with ATOC 75% discount should get this CDR £8.85 SDR £13.75 SVR 11.35 (Marlow - Colchester)

I would look into that because "+" can be purchased if starting journey from outside the boundary or finishing a journey outside the boundary.

the problem with the older members of staff, is there too old to keep up with changing times (written by someone in late 30's, with boxes)

Indeed. Even if they get people asking to "start short" from Acton Mainline, they should still sell the tickets. Used to get a few at Euston asking for tickets from South Hampstead. There aren't enough hours in the day to create drama over things like this.

Given TOC New Entrants (i.e. those who started on or after 1st April 1996) don't get PRIVs on "standalone" LU tickets, every station I've worked at has offered them a ticket from an "appropriate" station that includes cross-London transfer where appropriate.

A Basildon - Zone U1234*Londn ticket most definitely should not be sold with a Priv discount to non-safeguarded staff if you follow the national scheme.

Is there a local easement for this in C2C land?

U-zone tickets within the London zonal area definitely have not been withdrawn. They are just structured differently to outboundary ones.

I believe these must be a national easement as i have purchased Crystal Palace to Liverpool Street (U1234*) single for £1.85, Stratford to kings cross for £1.50 from ticket offices And sold Southend east to Waterloo returns more times then I can count for £6.50

As for U tickets from inside the boundary, Could you explain to me in detail as we have been told not to issue any U single returns but to issue travel cards instead when inside the boundary :-/

Safeguarded (ex BR/LT) Priv holders are eligible to buy Priv discounted U Zones tickets. This is why the Priv discount is available on those tickets.

TOC New Entrant Priv holders are not eligible to buy Priv discounted U Zones tickets.

It's up to the ticket seller to know their discount entitlements and sell as appropriate. I have known a TOC colleague in the past to get done by LU staff for travelling on one when not entitled.

As RJ pointed out, the only reduced rate tube travel non-safeguarded staff get nowadays are cross-London transfers and interavailable routes. Other than that, priv-discounts on LUL are only available to safeguarded staff, so can still be issued on most TIS, only that they are not meant to be sold to those not eligible. There may be local easements, but I wouldn't be privvy to such information and local instructions will override the national rules.

U-zone fares from outside the London zonal area (1-6) are issued as an add-on, and can be tagged onto any fare from stations outside the zonal area to one inside, even when not defined in the fares database, eg. Stockport - Zone U2* Londn. There are, of course, exceptions, as we are talking about the fares system ;), eg. tickets from most Southern stations must cover all the zones travelled through, so in effect must include Zone 6 when issued from an outboundary station. As a result, you cannot issue a Three Bridges - Zone U1* Londn ticket, as it must be issued as Three Bridges - Zone U1256 Londn.

Inboundary tube-train fares must cover all the zones travelled through on the full journey on the U-zone part, regardless of which portion the National Rail leg covers, eg. a Sutton - Morden journey interchanging at Balham must be issued a Sutton - Zone U345* Londn ticket, and not a Sutton - Zone U34* Londn ticket. If interchanging at Elephant & Castle, the ticket should be issued as Sutton - Zone U2345* Londn. The fares are not calculated as add-ons. They are pre-defined, and full details should be in the Knowledgebase.
