Are / were they all politicians?

All are still wrong but your are edging closer. Another clue?

Well, I know that they weren't all politicians, because I've checked, so I don't know how I'm getting closer.

Mond is the family name of one of the founders of ICI, but the others don't seem to have been connected with the company, at least not publically.

Were they / are they all of the Jewish faith?

Like I said Hurt (you are correct with John Hurt) was connected to the list but not part of it. His profession however could be a clue.

Closer again, one of them is indeed a 1984 character.

Another clue, another linked name, we've already has John Hurt as being linked, have Donald Sutherland as well.

Correct. More specifically various heads of state and leaders in dystopian novels.

Thank you, I must also thank Messrs Wikipedia and IMDb without whose help etc...

I haven't got a question so it's open floor...

(We'll probably get a question about the number of urinals on the Starship Enterprise).

We won't <D

Which Autobahns can be seen in this junction, and which city is it nearest to?

Looks a bit like one that I took the wrong route on near Munich. No idea though really.

I'm going to have a guess at it being one of the first ones built somewhere near Berlin?

Taking a guess at Autobahns 9 and 14 near Leipzig.

One of the roads at this junction is Autobahn 9, however it's not near Leipzig.

Nowhere near Muenchen or Berlin, I'm afraid.

I'm starting to think it is. I've had a look up and down Autobahn 9 in Germany, and I can't find any junction like that (aside from its junction with Autobahn 38, but it's clearly not quite right and is also near Leipzig).

I've also had a look up and down Autobahn 9 in Switzerland and Autobahn 9 in Austria. Neither have a junction that looks like this one.

However, I've just looked along the other road I've mentioned, namely Autobahn 14. It has a junction with Autobahn 2 near Magdeburg which looks like a good candidate...
