Hebden Bridge station car park

Morning all. My partner and I are holidaying in Haworth for a week next month, and have a few days out planned, taking the train from Hebden Bridge.

Can anyone shed any light on how busy the station car park is likely to be at around 10am on a weekday?

I believe it gets quite full with commuters, someone is likely to know better.

There is a bus across from Haworth to Hebden Bridge Station the 500. It only runs during the day and stops at about 6pm (can't remember exact details).

Depending on where you are going by train you could also catch the much more numerous buses to Keighley (which run till late) and catch the train from there.

We'll be going via Keighley to get to Leeds and York, but Hebden Bridge is definitely a better option for trains to Manchester

Link to the Bus Keighley Station Car Park does get full by about 7:45 so the bus would definitely be an option. The day ticket for keighley and district buses is good value.

Make sure you give the KWVR a visit while you're there.

Oh yes, we'll definitely be taking a trip on the KWVR. The cottage we're staying in overlooks Haworth station; the main appeal of it as far as I'm concerned!

Hebden Bridge station car park is full from 7ish, by 8am cars are parked half way to Mytholmroyd along the side of the A646. Due its crowded nature there's a severe lack of car parking in the town.

The 500 Brontebus will take you over the moors from Haworth station to Hebden Bridge station, but don't miss the last return journey at 19:10!

Keighley Bus used to produce a leaflet advertising the Hebden Bridge connection to Manchester, but this seems to have stopped by Transdev who would rather people travelled on their bus services from Burnley.

Edit: One warning, seeing you're staying in February, the Keighley to Hebden Bridge road can be closed if it snows!

Sounds like the bus is definitely the better option then!

I had a short 5 day break in that area last February and found the K Day Bus ticket very good value at under £5 a day. It allows travel on Transdev Keighley and District buses all around Keighley and Haworth and also into Bradford and Leeds. I was also able to use it to visit Skipton, Ilkley and even Harrogate. At that price far better than using petrol and having to pay parking charges.

Would Todmorden car park be less crowded? It's a bit further west along Calderdale than Hebden Bridge.

Even if you get there early unless your car is narrow you may be unable to park as the bays are very narrow. Three golfs in a line and the
middle driver will have to get out via the boot!

Rather doubt it, though you might be able to park on street slightly more easily than at Hebden Br. That said, driving the valley road is tedious!

I've never tried, but I doubt it - Todmorden station only has 50 car parking spaces, compared with a total of 120 at Hebden (in 2 car parks).

Not much use for a February visit, but WYCA have just approved budgets for 81 extra car parking spaces at Hebden Bridge station (£1.23m) and a new car park with 203 spaces at Mytholmroyd (£3.64m) (or being pedantic, given council officials the authority to sign them off before the next committee meeting). Investment Committee agenda (pdf). The Hebden Bridge extension is presumably on the site of the old goods yards, currently occupied by a coal merchant. I have no idea where there's room at Mytholmroyd for a large car park - currently there's a drop off point by the Leeds platform but nothing on the Manchester side.

Answering my own question, but it appears that the car park at Mythmolroyd is to be built on the old goods yard, now fairly mature woodlands, but very much in use in 1937.
