Rumour:

Nobody can remember if the safety case was completed, several project people are on leave or sick and the paperwork has either gone walkies or doesn't exist.

The paperwork is sitting on my iPad. We were sent it a couple of weeks ago. Considering I'm booked there tomorrow along with half my depot then I'm kinda weirded out.

They're cleared operationally, but not for passenger service. Complete oversight on GTRs part.

Bit more than an oversight if they let it get to the point where drivers still think they're working them the day before!

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the difference?

No wonder our railway is so expensive to deliver.

They can go into the station without tripping power supplies/hitting platforms/being unable to see signals, etc. However, there isn't the necessary equipment, processes, or staff for dispatch, passenger assistance, etc, as mentioned in post 8379

Stop marks briefing sent out
Drivers trained
Staff trained
Unit run into and out of Vic
Route certification sent out
LTP Diagrams changed
STP Diagrams issued

Totally and utterly crazy situation :/

I wouldn't worry as 700/1 are still not cleared for platform 1 at Three Bridges and platform 3 at Brighton plus 700/0 still can't be permissively work platform 4 at Brighton and the new one from a couple a weeks ago, there's no paperwork for the Selhurst Spurs so a couple of ECS moves current cycle via East Croydon vice West Croydon.

And what would be different for a 700 than for the existing stock?

I was looking at the route cert and there is a long list of prohibitions/ECS/Berthing restrictions. Even 319's had a route restriction going into Vic. One of the hardest part of route knowledge is knowing the restrictions and local instructions.

Wouldn't it be better if each train carried its own ramp? Another reason for OBS. I've heard too many tales of booked ramps failing to appear.

But considering that the OBS doesn't need to be there you will still get a situation where there is no OBS to use the ramp anyway. Not only that, the OBS will still need to contact the Driver to ensure that they don't close the doors and the ramp will then become a safety critical requirement on every train and ... and ... and ..

This isn't a DOO debate but In the interest of further hilarity.. There is an onboard ramp. <D

However, than you for supporting a requirement for a guaranteed second person on board. Only if the RMT had asked for that..... Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !

These 10-12 coach sets should routinely have more than one OBS. Not possible for one person to effectively carry out all the passenger-focussed duties (which is why they don't have time to operate the doors)

What routes do the 700s operate out of Victoria? Are they on lease to Southern?

None yet. They should have operated Thameslink services from Sevenoaks via the Catford loop into the Southeastern side today as Blackfriars is shut.

In the near future they will work some Southern services from Horsham / Littlehampton (peak) / East Grinstead into the Southern side of Victoria as it is too complicated to change the existing 377 diagrams for them only to take over London Bridge Southern services. This ends in May 2018.

Ah okay! I figured they should be easy to transfer between GN, Southern, GatX, since they are all under 1 parent! It would be good if they came down to Portsmouth one day!
