Here’s the layout showing how 57203 would have left wabtec , we don’t move any seats in the 57 car on a 150/2

Poor day for any passengers with legs I here155345 and 155346 were both out and about around Leeds today
K

Poor day for passengers with legs on the Mid-Cheshire line as well. We have a Merseytravel 142 and an ex-ATN 142 on the line with some passengers experiencing extended journey times earlier due to a signalling fault.

I was on 155345 and have no problem with legroom so it’s very subjective. I’m 5’8. There’s some priority seats with more generous legroom within the 155s if needed.

I'm not much taller than you are, and I'm just about comfortable on a 155. I think this was a decent opportunity to remove a row in each carriage so the remaining seats could be spaced out a bit more to offer more legroom, but never mind.

Did it have a new moquette and yellow handrails? Apparently it was going to be in the same state as 150 142.
There is a 155 out and about in new internal spec. Same seat covers as the 150 has, yellow grabrails and stuff, and the seat frame is black, which suits it.

5"8 is smaller than the average UK male (5"9). I am 6ft and I am only slightly taller than average for my generation. The IEP specified legroom must be adequate for 95% of men which I think was 6"3 or under. That is a fair standard to enforce for all new trains. Sprinters ussually have inadequate legroom for relatively tall men (and very tall women) and the upgrade program would have been a good opportunity to remove a row of seats per carriage to adapt to an increase in average height in the last 30 years.

Apparently we are growing 1inch per generation. Trains like the 80seat 155 seem to be getting smaller.

The number of short formed services currently showing on Journey Check is around 40 - all diesel services, despite recently getting 5 additional Sprinters. Have they sent too many away for work at once?

I think they've sent away as many as they need to in order to have enough units ready for service on Jan 1st 2020, while still just about being able to fulfil the current timetable.

Thank you, I love 158758, Cant wait to see her in the new Northern livery! :D
Any particular reason for liking that particular unit? I don't really take note of numbers like I once did, but I seem to notice whenever I get 757 as it was the first 158 I rode back in the day... though it was only a 2-car unit back then!

And wait till the 28th when the Blackpool South line comes back on line and more units are needed again..

It's probably Northen trying to balance out the fleet by moving a Pacer from Manchester to Leeds.

Looks like one Pacer going to Holbeck and then the same crew will take a different Pacer back to Newton Heath. (The first Pacer gets moved to Leeds station from Holbeck.) We had one of the ex-ATN 142s over here this week, maybe it's returning home in exchange for one that is allocated to Newton Heath?

There are overhauls ongoing on the 142s at Holbeck so I imagine it's swapping a unit that's completed for one that needs doing.

On Sunday 14th 150122 were on the Buxton diagram along with another 150. I do have to say that the former GWR / Failed Going West 150 was far more comfortable than the Northern 150 and it was brighter as the 122 retains its LED lighting, Northern's still had the T8 tubes.

I do hope that Northern will LEDify the lighting on their new and aquired stock as it makes travelling more welcoming.

The franchise agreement states LED lighting is required on all refurbished units.
