Thought it may be interesting to see whether forum users prefer the previous green and yellow Freightliner branding, or the newly announced orange branding. Vote now!

The orange livery isn't official, it's the livery of a sister company, so it's all conjecture at this point.

But I would be amazed if whatever rolls out isn't dissimilar.

A good point, a new brand is not the same as a new livery. This poll is getting ahead of things.

You really need to include the "Powerhaul" livery in the poll as well.

Problem with that is people might vote for Powerhaul rather than indicating a preference between the old and the new main Freightliner branding. Which was the idea of the thread see :D. To see whether people think the change in branding and the likely livery will be an improvement.

Don't know, never seen the new orange, I take it will make FL look too much like GBRf or Colas which both have orange in abundance

The third option is missing, "couldn't care less what colour the loco is as long as it can do its job"

Not if the OP didn't want that to be an option.
They ONLY want to know which colour - those are the choices :P

Presumably one wouldn't vote or want to see the result if that's how they felt?

That'd be like having an option on an election paper for couldn't care less. There isn't a box for that.

That new logo shouts 'naff American' very loudly and looks like it belongs on Tonka Toy packaging!

I believe G&W are keen to put their corporate image on most of their companies. Why not? They are an American company and their style has been around for some while. Coca Cola is recognisable the world over; so are most G&W railways.
Curiously the name Best Western is equally well know in the leisure business Stateside as well as in the UK. ;)

The green and yellow was so classic though. Even if the new branding turns out to be cool, it's just a shame to lose a branding as nice as the green was/is.

These FOC's are all very similar to each other anyway so might as well have a similar livery.

Never been a fan of green and yellow I must admit, don't know why really. But it's certainly a familiar sight and part of the railway landscape.

You may want to get your eyes tested as they look nothing alike. One livery is 1/3 fluorescent yellow, one livery is predominantly blue, and the other one (assuming that is what Freightliner actually end up using) has far more orange than the others and has got two large stripes running across it.

Not even a contest, Green and Yellow of course. The current livery is a standard one used by all the companies owned by Genesee & Wyoming and AFAIK is now in use in both the USA, Canada, Australia, the UK and possibly other countries too

I like both the old Freightliner and Powerhaul colours. Not sure what the "new" one is other than the slightly naff logo in the OP, as the link posted further down is 404-ing.

Did see a couple of FL 66s passing Heaton Lodge junction light-engine on Monday, both in old green (not powerhaul) but one of them had the Freightliner branding in a different style with less-bold lettering (having now seen the image below to compare, I'm pretty sure it was Powerhaul lettering on the standard FL livery). Couldn't see the numbers from my seat in the 185 as I was too far away.

Also based on the image below, that orange livery is putrid! Both Powerhaul and standard green look far more classy in my opinion.

Talking about brand as opposed to livery. The plain Freightliner brand was clean, simple and recognisable. This new G&W logo and brand just looks stupid. Its very American which means it stands out like a sore thumb in the UK, not in a good way. As has been said by other on the UK scene it looks like it was designed in WordArt by a child. It even puts me in mind of the company logos that you could pick in the old Railroad Tycoon games, to my eyes it is that bad.
