Pulis v Bruce. Was you really expecting excitement?!

nope - but Boro didn't really turn up nor did they test the aged Terry against some of the more pacey players they have. I think the winner of this one will get promoted. I think the winner will be Villa now.

Hoping Middlesbrough come back and get through, I get the impression they're the weaker of the 4 play-off teams...

See what being in the Premier League does to one's outlook on football!

Good to see Tranmere back in the EFL, even if it was Huddersfield old-boy Liam Ridehalgh who nearly blew it for them in the first minute. Sounds like Boreham Wood (which I always assumed was one word) might have reason to feel a bit disgruntled with a couple of late decisions.

Not weaker, just not quite as flashy. Losing the play offs isnt a massive blow ( this season) as they can build a Pullis team for next season rather than a soft Gary Monk effort

It’s one of those matches where you don’t want either to win.

both pragmatic - I don't really dislike their style. It is all part of the game.

With the last game of the season in the premier league well underway i wounder how many of the managers who started the games today will still be in post on the first game of next season?

I think that: Allerdyce, Conte, Puel, Garcia, Lambert and Moyes will be sacked. Wenger will retire & Caravalhal is leaving. Moore will be replaced. Benitez may well quit Newcastle and I think Dyche and/or Wagner may move! Roy Hodgson may retire/move upstairs.

EDIT - having just heard Mark Hughes on the radio I might add him to the list!

Harrogate won the Conferance North play off 3 -0 v Brackley. That apparently earns Darlo a £20k bonus on a transfer clause! Sweet. Extra cash and a millionaires play thing out of our division.

Liverpool 4-0 Brighton. Champions League football guaranteed for next season!

I'm absolutely made up Andy Robertson scored, also pleased for Mo Salah who has won the Golden Boot as this season's Premier League top scorer.

Huddersfield 0 - 1 Arsenal

Arsenal gain their first away points of 2018 in Wenger's last game in charge... at least 2 of those points were a bit lucky, but then I would say that! The game took place in a carnival atmosphere as there was very little at stake and plenty of cause for celebration for the home fans.
Many Arsenal fans were wearing t-shirts with "Merci, Arsène" written on them... if in 20 years time I'm wearing a t-shirt saying "Danke, David" I'll be a happy man!

Premier League manager of the season? Sean Dyche followed by Rafa Benitez and David Wagner. Obvs it will go to Pep though.

Also worth noting the end of an era with Arsene Wenger leaving Arsenal after 22 years.

Word floating about on the interweb is that IF Puel gets the chop Leicester may try and get Wagner as a replacement.

Those rumours have reached DATM too, admittedly biased consensus seems to be that: (a) he'd be crazy to go there, given their owner's propensity to hand P45s out like ticker-tape; (b) Wagner has always honoured contracts previously, this seems to be a principle for him; and (c) our owner/chairman will do everything in his power to keep him, if there's an approach made.

I think you are right but heads can get turned and with all due respect it would be a step up and a step onwards. Can he go much further with Huddersfield? However Wagner does seem a decent guy and he seems happy with the Terriers.

The real worry is if one of the bigger German clubs were to come in for him... but as you say money talks: and pretty much everyone listens when it does.
There were times this season where I started to doubt whether he could cope with the pressure of the top flight, but the defensive masterclass of the last two away games (and we weren't too bad yesterday either) has eased my worries. Next season will probably be tougher still, but with the right signings (probably unknowns from Bundesliga 2!) and a lot of luck we'll be fine.

It's ridiculously unlikely that we'll do a Leicester or a Burnley, but it isn't impossible.

Renaming of a Israel footballclub in Beitar 'Trump' Jerusalem.

Also HSV in Germany is relegated as the last team ever to stay in the Bundesliga.

I'd not be too chuffed if my team was renamed to Huddersfield Trump!

In other comedy football news, a group of Port Vale fans hired a plane to fly over the Bet365 Stadium, home of local rivals Stoke City, with a banner mocking their relegation... unfortunately Stoke were playing away at Swansea!

Also, in a surprise to absolutely no-one, the one player from outside the top six that made it into Garth Crooks' Team of the Season was...

Lewis Dunk of Brighton.

I don't think it's a bad selection overall, although I personally think Marcos Alonso and Andy Robertson are better left backs than Ashley Young.

Agreed, but Crooks has picked Dunk almost every week, including the several weeks he scored an own-goal. Dunk is a decent defender but both Schindler and Jorgensen are better (though I am biased of course).

Still, I hope the sun comes out for Garth and Lewis on their wedding day!

It was good to see Cowdenbeath survive against 8-man Cove Rangers.

There are some great videos of Central Park on YouTube. It reminds me a lot of grounds of old like Somerton Park, the Athletics Grounds (Rochdale Hornets), the Tower Ground (New Brighton) and the Shay before it was rebuilt.

Having to suffer Talksport again this evening. Good what an terrible, biased, over hyped broadcast. It appears designed to appeal to sun reading premier league supporting simpletons and spoon feed them information. Terrible commentator and a useless expert. Their love of the disgustingly hateful John Terry is sickening. I hope they have to commentate on Traore tearing him a new one. The big factoid they are hamming up is that no one has lost a first leg championship play off and won through to the final. Wow. A god awful station and they have the rights to overseas cricket now.

Cowdenbeath design their entire season to win that play off game!

They are saying that tonight? It happened last night. Unless they were talking about last night?

Agreed though, garbage station.

Now you mention it, I do remember Dunk being selected quite often.

I'm with you on that, tbh. Schindler and Jorgensen are decent defenders. :)

Well it seems the one piece of information they did spoon feed you you got wrong. Maybe you was too busy frothing about premier league supporters to hear properly ;)
The stat is no team has won through to the final after losing the first leg at home in a championship play off.
As for Traore tearing Terry a new one. Maybe he would have if he could have got out of Hutton's pocket at any point over the two legs. Traore is the very definition of a headless chicken. I don't think I have ever watched a player with less football nous than him.
I will agree with you about Talksport though. Their commentaries are basically 90 mins of shouting interspersed with 100 ads for betting companies. Truly awful radio station and it will surprise no one to hear they are owned by NewsCorp
