I've heard from someone that the process from initial assessment to final interview is pretty quick due to the company wanting to commence training very soon

Hi Guys

i have been looking online since octoberish for trainee driver positions in Edinburgh but not noticed any go up, does anyone know if there will be vacancies soon? i am currently a LRV driver down south but looking to move back to Edinburgh and hoping to be lucky enough to secure a job on the trains.

i noticed they advertising for conductors in Edinburgh and my question is if you become a conductor is it easier to become a train driver?

any advise would be great

cheers

There's loads of people on this forum with lots of great advice and guidance. The better prepared and knowledge you have will help for each stage.

I read through all the forums over 100 times using all the info about each stage.
For me this this was a massive opportunity to start a new exciting career that doesn't come around too often. I studied harder for each stage than I've ever done. I thought about the job/interview 24/7 wrote down every possible interview question researched about the role of a driver, practised all the material they sent me everyday.
All the information and advice is there, good luck to everyone if one small bit of advice can help someone why not help

Congrats on getting through everything.

I’ve recently been given my date for the DMI and have read over pretty much everything on this forum.

Any chance you could forward me over the stuff you’ve got for the DMI?

I have my DMI coming up in Glasgow. Are everybody's interviews there or will that be the depot the vacancy is for?

Hi mate, I think all the interviews are in Glasgow regardless of where you are applying for. I’m in for Perth but my interview is in Glasgow.

No problem visiting a depot for me is really important it shows that you've made an effort. Tbh it wouldn't look great if you haven't made that effort. I personally seen this as a massive oppourtunity so doing that bit extra and showing the interviewers how keen and enthuastic you're, will stand you in good stead.

Thanks I read on here you need to post 5 times prior to being able to send a private mail. Not sure how accurate this is however ties in with not being able to send mail
Hi kendo

I know you said you would send on some stuff, but I haven't received anything. Just wondering if it didn't let you or if you could try again.

Sorry to buy you again mate, you've been a great help to loads of folk. Cheers

Just received my start date of 22nd April. Contract is in the post absolutely delighted.

Congrats on getting the job Kendo. Can I ask how long you waited for after your driver manager to find out if you were successful or not at that stage?

How did you find the interview bud? Go well?

It was fairly straightforward but it wasn't quite what I expected...if that makes sense. I prepped loads but still struggled at bits. But there was no low ballers or difficult questions.

Great thanks. Just trying to prepare as much as I can too. Best of luck

Hi, just wondering if there is anyone going for a Perth post and has an interview tomorrow?. What time will you be getting the train?. Mine is at 13:15 but will be going through earlier.

Hi Folks,
For those worried about the length of time with no news, the following is my timescale so far:
Applied beginning of June 2018.
1st Test Day in Glasgow - 21 November 2018 (told I'd passed by email same day)
DMI scheduled for 16 January 2019 but I had to postpone as out of the country.
Just been told that my DMI has been rescheduled for next week.
So my point is hang in there, they will get around to you and haven't forgotten.
Fingers crossed for next week and good luck to everyone who, like me, are still going through the process.

Frodo did you contact HR for another opportunity for DMI as you weren't available first time round. I ask as I'm in a similar situation not being able to make my DMI due to working overseas?

I did and then chased them again after a period of several weeks with no news but each time the answer was "We don’t have any further interview dates at the moment but we will get in touch when we have a new date".
So don't panic they will get round to it eventually but it does seem to be a long process.

Long time to wait . Well done!
I applied last year, they said no word in 8 weeks then you weren’t successful...fair enough, 10 weeks past, and hadn’t heard anything.
In the profile though, still showing as under consideration.
Emailed recruitment and they replied with, we will be in touch in due course. Very helpful bunch!
