A great win for Manchester Untied. PSG showing the kind of international bottlejobsim that Spurs can only aspire to there Gary.

So will Aolskjaer get the job full time?

Manchester United have done the unbelievable. A 94th minute VAR awarded penalty to win on away goals, after losing the first leg 2-0 at home, the first team to ever do that in the history of the competition.

Just as Ajax were the first team to lose 1-2 at home in the first leg and still go through, bizarre that long standing records should be broken on consecutive nights.

Absolutely shocking that the suits who draw up the Laws of the Game think Manchester United's penalty was handball. Absolutely shocking.

David Elleray:

"Deliberate handball remains an offence," Elleray stressed.

"In the past we've managed to improve the laws by focusing on outcome rather than intent.

"What we are looking at particularly in attacking situations is where the player gets a clear unfair advantage by gaining possession or control of the ball, as a result of it making contact with their hand or arm."

Deliberate handball has to be a deliberate act David. This isn't a science.

None of these people have played the game to any appreciable level. Are you supposed to jump to block the ball with your hands behind your back?

The record was broken twice in 2 consecutive nights. The actual stat was that no one has turned it round after losing the home leg first, both Ajax and Manchester United broke the stat.

Interesting times in the championship;

Darren Moore sacked by West Brom today.

Leeds and Sheffield United battling for second place. Ideally I'd like Norwich to fall away and both the two Yorkshire clubs go up, but that's looking unlikely.

I was in the Wednesday end in the Sheffield derby last week (first time in the Wednesday kop which is a great stand, but the facilities are dire) supporting Wednesday to help Leeds. This week I'll be at Bramall Lane to watch Sheff Utd V Brentford on Tuesday. I'll then be at Elland Road on Saturday for Leeds V Sheffield United supporting my actual team, Leeds in what could be a vital game.

Whilst sat in 4th position with a 7 point cushion to 7th. The mind boggles.

On the face of it, it does look like madness, but their recent form and performances have been poor though. 4 wins in 14...

However, I'm not sure it will help their play-off chances. But, it all depends who the replacement is really.

Indeed, recent form aside it's the good old WBA timing coming into play again. I cannot really think of anyone available that could improve their form and secure a playoff spot. Time for Big Sam to come out of hiding.

Hereford 4 v Darlo 2. FFS. Darlo were 2-0 up and cruising at half time and lost 4-2 to a side who were mediocre at best and barely had to try to score 4 times in 45 minutes. An utterly unacceptable second half performance and one that made me so angry I couldn't speak after the match. Honestly I was that mad I could not express my thoughts other than by swearing. Lots. The position of the manager must now be untenable and it is a good job the dug outs were on the far side of the pitch!

Darren Moore sacked by West Brom today.

A bizzare decsion - Personally i have never forgiven Darren Moore for breaking Gary Himsworth leg in Torquay v Darlo game years ago. Didn't deserve the sack mind!

As a supporter of Birmingham City (albeit an armchair supporter at the moment), I was shocked and sickened by the actions of the idiot at St Andrews on Sunday who encroached onto the pitch and attacked Jack Grealish. I am glad to see he has received a prison sentence for his attack (although I believe that 14 weeks is not enough), a lifetime ban from attending Birmingham City Home and Away games in addition to his 10 year ban from attending any football matches, and I worryingly await the response from the FA as to what punishment Birmingham City will receive as a result of his stupid idiocy. He is certainly not a fan...

Not sure I think Birmingham City should be punished harshly unless he was a known trouble maker or the club failed to take reasonable steps to keep people off the pitch.

Birmingham fans have history, at least for me. Outside St Andrews after Forest won there in 1998 was the only time I have been genuinely worried for my wife’s and my own safety as an away fan, and we have been to a lot of away games.

Agreed on Birmingham, they are no angels. Been on the receiving end of a shower of coins at St Andrews but I must say that was only once and I must have been there 6 or 7 times as an away fan.

I must say though I'm incredulous at what happened yesterday, what is going on in the guys head? Nothing evidently. That could have actually sparked off large scale disorder in the stands.

The Birmingham fan* has been jailed for 14 weeks by magistrates. BBC LINK.

A Birmingham City fan has been jailed for 14 weeks for attacking Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish during the second city derby.

Paul Mitchell, of Rubery, Worcestershire, ran on to the pitch and hit Grealish from behind about 10 minutes into Sunday's game.

Mitchell, 27, admitted assault and encroachment on to the pitch at Birmingham Magistrates' Court earlier.

He "cannot explain what came over him yesterday morning", his solicitor said.

"His initial foolish intention was to just go on to the pitch and whip up the crowd," said Vaughn Whistance, defending.

Mitchell, of Cock Hill Lane, was also ordered to pay £350 in fines and costs and has been banned from attending any football matches in the UK for 10 years.

The £350 includes £100 in compensation for Grealish's "pain, discomfort and shock".

*= and he is a fan. I'd like to disown some of our idiots too, but if someone says they follow a team then they do.

Don't underestimate the onerousness of a Football Banning Order. It encompasses all matches including Sunday League and Kids Footy organised by the FA. Can't go near a game.

And here's the kicker - passports need to be surrendered during each England away game; that restricts your holiday options quite a bit.

No it doesn't. You are prevented from attending a "regulated" football match. The law defines a regulated football match as:

“an association football match in which one or both of the participating teams represent a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference or the League of Wales, or represents a country or territory”.

That is not an automatic condition.

The definition has been amended - it used to include the Football Association, not just the Premier League. Which does make it less onerous.

However, the travel ban remains a key element and is not an optional element.

Yes it is. See the primary legislation and the CPS notes.

A person who has been given a Football Banning Order (FBO) must report to a specified police station within five days, and surrender their passport when required by the Enforcing Authority (the Football Banning Orders Authority), and report to a police station during the "control periods" associated with "regulated football matches" outside of the UK (see s.14 Football Spectators Act 1989).
There are additional requirements that may be imposed - typically they are exclusions from an area around the home team ground for the period of a match, or even specific pubs and neighbourhoods.

The change has however meant people on banning orders can watch football below Conference level. I know of ( professionally) several who do.

However, the travel ban remains a key element and is not an optional element.

One of the two I know of claims to have no travel limitations. Key word = claims!

A good win in Europe for Bayern Munich tonight...

They beat Leicester under-23s on penalties in the quarter finals of the Premier League International Cup.

Good to see Liverpool making it 4 English teams in the last 8.

Now if Barcelona should draw Jeventus that will be a tasty match.

I've just had a bet with a friend that I'm working with next week.
If Man City draw Barca he buys me a cake.*
If Liverpool draw Tottenham then I buy him a cake.
If neither of us are right then we both have to buy a packet of decent biscuits for the kitty.

(* I'd love to see that)
