I'm currently on a refurbished 156 (not sure which) with the new moquette style refurbed seats. Not a fan. The flat cloth, whilst more difficult to keep clean, looks and feels much better in my view. The pattern on the moquette is blurry rather than crisp and clear, and the feel of the seats themselves is very 1980s Ford Mondeo...
Surely an easily washable flat cloth would have been available rather than taking this backward step?

The cloth style seating Northern have used in refurbs until now are absolutely disgusting. The amount of times I have got on a refurbished Northern and pretty much EVERY seat has dirt or some form smeared over the cloth seats. The new moquette style seating looks an huge improvement on the cloth seating for the simple fact they will be less susceptible to dirt and a lot easier to clean.

Oh, I don't disagree that Northern need to learn how to clean their trains (and buy materials which can be easily cleaned) but frankly I think the moquette is vile. Replace the cloth with something easier to clean, absolutely, but not with this ugly, uncofortable, irritating, old-fashioned relic of a 1980s chav's hatchback.

Agreed. Moquette is the right answer for the seat covering type. But the pattern on it is as you describe - just naff beyond belief.

I personally have no problem with the seating pattern. Other than that Northern should replace all the seat covers that are made of flat Cloth with moquette ones

I was on 150275 t'other day, and note that it's sporting turquoise grab handle/rails instead of the delightful bright yellow? It's been PRM'd, but I'm not sure if the seats had been done, so perhaps it's not 'finished' yet.

150275 was one of the first to be refurbished, the design of future refurbs was tweaked as the programme progressed. 158752 differs from some of the later 158/7 refurbs, and some of the refurbished 150/1 retain previous northern rail striped moquette.

Wrong. All the 323s will get PRM mods. What level of refurbishment and colour they come back in is anyone's guess .

There won't be one.....
I thought the plan was to get rid of them by the end of the year, my bad
Plans have changed since then. @jonesy3001 said in this very forum that this is going to be the case and (he's apparently in a Facebook group for Northern drivers) so disbelieve it as much as you like but i'm pretty sure a Northern driver based around the Manchester area will say it is true.
I also believe that they will be in addition to the current 243 units promised to be refurbished and I think that the same principal will go for the 153's if they are also being PRM modded and refurbished.

I guys I've asked a clue of times but does anyone know what class of train will replace the horrible ' pacer ' cattle trucks .
On the line between Cleethorpes , via Scunthorpe to Doncaster ( all stations stopping) it was in our local paper that all stations are to have platform works and keadby canal bridge will be modified, the line also is due to be brought up to high speed running ( over 60mph ), I believe a stronger gauge to handle heavier freight trains .
But going back to the platform changes , I can't see a class 150 needing them as we occasionally get one running to Doncaster . Sadly TpE doesnt serve Crowle , which would be well used as it's a sizeable area , with Belton included that Station covers a wide area .
Hence wanting to know what class of train. , Personally I'd be happy to see a three car class 158 , they are quicker off the line than the pacer .
But I can't seem to find any info on what class is replacing it.plesse if somone knows can you post a reply .
Thanks guys .
