Well 3 years back the prospect of Express coaches to Linlithgow seemed equally as ridiculous.

It's still ridiculous!

Oh yes sorry I didn't read it right through. My bad. I would say that the old Airlinks would most likely go straight into the main fleet, but if not then the ex Skylinks would most likely replace the remaining B7TLs on a route like the 3, 33 or 44.

I wouldn't be shocked if they send them to the West Lothian network.

How dare people Question are overlords, and their wisdom. Trying to take over the Lothian in every respect is far more important than providing easy access for the customers who should be honoured to travel on the broken down buses to the Highlands :lol::lol::lol::lol:

More than 2 years. I wonder if it will ever happen.

I'll wait for a "fanboy" to comment saying it'll be here by the end of August, and then in about 6 months time i'll quote that reply asking the same question again. I'm just joking....

Jokes aside i wish they'd focus on the stuff the passengers are asking for (contactless payments).

I hear said 913 broke down again today... :lol::lol::lol:. Even Stagecoach North Scotland must be achieving higher reliability their with multiple Citylink runs! It's really not a good image for Lothian if they were (as has been stated on here) wishing to gain more Citylink work in the future.

I suggest you reread what I said. If old Airlink stock goes on to the Skylink stock then there will be surplus of Sky link stock.

Most of the current Skylink buses are newer than the current Airlink buses so I don't see the Airlink fleet moving to Skylink.

WOW just WOW the people complaining about the changes, there all contradict each other... Why is the 33 being taken off... You still have faster direct bus to Edinburgh, Yes but it doesn't go around Danderhall, but the 48 now covers that part... I'm dont like the no 48 it will take ages to get to Fort.. So why why do you care about the 33??? Craigmillier complaints could be resolved by extending the 14 like it was always planned

Are people not allowed their own opinions? The changes might affect some people negativley, like having to change bus when they previously didn't.

You are correct. People will always find something to complain about. The changes to the 15 (no longer operating on a Saturday) have caused quite a bit of annoyance too.

How do you know nobody will have to change buses? Do you personally know EVERYONE that these routes serve? No you don't....

This has happened before, but you may want to read OTW's comment again.

He said "No one will have to change buses" (you appear to acknowledge he said that yourself), that doesn't mean no one will change buses, it just means that it wouldn't be necessary.

Correct:

* Birkenside.
- Cameron toll to Edinburgh - No29
- Mayfield/ Dalkeith/ERI/ - No48

* Newtongrange/ Gore Avenue
- Cameron toll to Edinburgh - No29
-Mayfield/ Dalkeith/ERI/ - No48

* Mayfield
- Dalkeith - No3/ 38
- Cameron toll to Edinburgh - No3
- Dalkeith/ERI/ - No48

The only gap is traveling from Gore Ave area OR Mayfield estate to the Aaron Lodge guest house hotel, and that only cover three bus stops area, of course you could walk from the side of the scheme?

One criticism that might just be valid is that Lothian didn't put proposals out for consultation prior to making these changes. They've just given the statutory minimum notice, which sort of goes against the guidelines.
I'm not sure there was any real requirement to give extra time for discussion given that all changes seem quite minor, but maybe it would have stemmed some of the rather extreme reactions.
Then again, I doubt it.

The Passengers still have a bus to 99% of all places served on the 33, and really how many people really traveled on the 33 to Edinburgh from the bottom end of the route instead of the much faster 29s?

I'll say it again, from my original post. Are people not allowed their own opinions?

OTW was whinging about people complaining about the service changes when he doesn't know how they will affect the people those routes serve. It's just pure arrogance to assume that they won't affect anyone.

Apart from Aaron Lodge guest house hotel, (only then if you live in Gore ave or Mayfield area) which is 3 minor stops in the middle of nowhere every single person has much faster bus to their desiternation... If people want to travel around the houses on very slow bus that is not what bus service is for... and you wonder why Lothian made this change?

Correct my if i'm wrong, but aren't there still 15 plates on Skylink routes?
Yeah, the 1st B5TLs that were bought for the 100 are now used on the 200 which originally used single deckers and the rest are at Longstone in standard madder & white used on the 3s usually, that was last year of course(2018).

I really wish they would get rid of the 4xx Skylink's and replace them with the 5xx spec'd buses.... cannae get a seat on the 4xx ones at certain times of day.....
.....but that is my grumble for the day over.....

I agree that the changes to the 33 and the introduction of the 48 are good moves, don't know much about how the 15 is doing.....but Lochend is pretty well served with buses as is Penicuik with 37/47 so don't think it's leaving any major gaps..... I suspect that, as is often the case, the "outrage" in the media is from people who rarely actually use the 15...

Since the 15 was taken out of Portobello i barely used it, and not even for journeys to Morningside etc (not intentionally) but I imagine that it was a similar feeling unless you lived on the route, if I stayed in Penicuik i’d be disappointed but what can you do? If it’s been withdrawn now it’s never coming back again, one day the service entirely will be withdrawn and boom use it or lose it!

Also is the 21 really going to be every 15 minutes between Broomhouse and Lochend only? because that’s extremely disappointing since the 21 was a perfect frequent service from the hospital it would be stupid to cut it back to every 30 minutes Monday-Saturday, especially since unlike the 15 it was more likely to be used more

Have it on good authority that what management have said is that a “number of daytime journeys will terminate at Lochend” so make of that what you will! I’d assume that means that every 30 mins between 1000 - 1500 journeys will terminate short (like how they used to do at Leith Links) I’m guessing they didn’t want to clog Leith Links up with the 1’s terminating there too so are sending the 21’s up to Lochend roundabout. No doubt the previous confusion will ensue with passengers not taking notice of the destination and being inconvenienced... but then you can change onto a 49 or a 19 (for King’s Road anyway).

Lothian have been known to be selective with what they announce and a number of hidden frequency changes have appeared in timetable changes before without a mention so wouldn’t be surprised if a few appear next month too! So keep your eyes peeled on the new timetables... the devil is in the detail so they say!

The number of people getting their knickers in a twist about the 15 coming out of Lochend, and the withdrawal of its Saturday service, on Lothian's social media is astounding. I wonder how many of these knicker-twisters actually used it! :lol:
